Gen6 Cruise Control Downshifting

HI All,

Anyone have problems with the cruise control downshifting at the slightest incline? At 60mph I can see a slight increase in the tach from about 2k to 2200 rpm on a real slight incline butEven on a bit more of an incline it will downshift harshly ang over 3K rpm. I real pain in the ass.

Will the aplication of the TSB EG056-06 solve this problem? Will I get better or worse gas milage with this TSB applied?

Is it actually downshifting or is it increasing the RPM? In our other car we get a shoot up in RPM during an incline....

On a side note, has anyone tried the "cancel" switch on their cruise control? For some reason when i use the cancel (instead of cruise turn off) the RPM meter goes to near zero before going back up (Keep in mind it's still cruising at ~60mph)

Sorry to thread jack :-P

That's how the cruise control is supposed to work.

1. Applies some throttle 2. unlocks torque converter 3. Downshifts to 4th gear. 4. Downshifts to 3rd gear if the slope is steep enough and then upshifts as the slope lessens.

The I4 below 2,500 RPM has not a lot of torque or HP and 5th gear is OD.

Don't like it, disengage the Cruise and watch it downshift as you try to maintain (not lose) speed on an incline.
