Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Michelin's have the name but Yokohama's surpass them hands down.
Doesn't the GS430 come std. w/ Yokohamas?? I've hear that the Yokohama's SUCK for treadwear (I did some research on tires when I got my GS430 rims for the camry)

I don't know ... I've heard good things about the Toyo Versado LX's!
I'm thinking about throwing a set on my ES300 when I'm due for tires again!

If it were me I would replace just that one tire with the exact one that is on the car now. I'm speaking strictly from an economic standpoint. It would be a waste to throw away 3 almost brand new tires at this point IMHO. Check all the warehouse clubs and the online places for that one tire. I know Sam's Club can special order many brand tires they don't carry in stock. When the whole set is worn I would then be asking and looking for a good replacement set.
For the various (6) vehicles I take care of in the immediate family I've had:
Goodyear
Dunlop
Michelin
Pirelli
Yokohama
Bridgestone
etc,etc, etc
I've been the happiest with Yokohamas. There customer service is excellent and they truly stand behind their product. Yokohama Avid H4 is also the only 225/40 18 tire that comes with a 60k treadwear warranty, unheard of in the industry. Toyo, etc are OEM tires that are made to last 20-25k before replacement, their inexpensive and meant to be middle of the road tires. There are plenty of garbage brands out there like Nankang, etc. Again, I stand behind Yokohama 100%, I would never purchase another brand.
Check out the Yokohama Avid line for a nice selection with great treadwear and great prices.

That's exactly what I did. Well, not until after I brought it to BigOTires (which, by the way, offers some great warranties on store-bought tires) and, being a Toyo tire suppliers, they were able to call Toyo mfgr. and assess the tire damage. Although the hole made on my tire was considered to be due to "road hazard," and thus not covered under warranty, the rep gave it to me free of charge as a one-time courtesy. All I have to pay now is the install ($25). I still don't see why Tire mfgrs don't warranty road hazard. I mean, if my tire popped randomly while I was driving no more than 15 mph, how can they quickly discern it to be caused by road hazard? Whatever, I'm happy with a free tire.
My first oil change is up. Should I go ahead with full synthetic and tire rotation?
BTW, thanks to everyone's input. THey've been of great help! I love TN. My brother's fiance is planning on buying a Toyota, and I've already told him about TN and how helpful it is to read inputs from Toyota owners. Rock on!

Glad it worked out for you. If it were me, I would give the tire rotation dollars to the tire store that helped you out. I rotated my tires at 6,500 miles.
As far as the synthetic vs. dino oil, if you ask 100 people you will probably get 50 that say synthetic and 50 that say stick with regular dino oil. Personally, I have always stuck with dino oil and changed the oil every 3 months or 3000 miles. I've never had an engine problem in any of my cars in more years of driving than I care to admit. I still try to stick with that on all my cars, even my 07 XLE. YMMV.
i never knew they came with toyo's. which are better .. the toyo's they come with or the michelins ?
anywho im not sure about the higher end tires that were recommended but i replaed the michelins mxv4's on our gen5 with a set of Toyo Versado luxury touring tires. all i have to say is im never going back to the michelins! very quiet and smooth.
yes they came with toyo's but i think its based on where u live. most west coast people here with SE's said they had toyo's and most east coast people have michelins i dunno y but so far our toyo's r fun with 9xxx miles. although driver front side "looks" flat
I had Yokohamas on my old car, They sucked, only lasted 10k miles on a freaking stock Taurus....

Your response is too general. I guess in the tire 'world' it is easy to generalize. I had a bad experience with Goodyear and now I think all Goodyear stink. I am happy with my Yokohama Avid and Geolanders for our Highlander. We have TRZ's on my Dad's car with no complaints.
i like yokohamas or michelins myself....i have yokohama avid V4s and theyre great....good traction in all weather conditions, they wear well and have long life, and they grip great on dry pavement...very smooth and quiet as well....michelen pilots are also a safe bet IMO, but always go for the tires on the higher end
i tend to avoid bridgestone potenzas myself...i had the RE92 potenzas on my car from the factory and they were absolute and total shit
with tires, you get what you pay for
Yokohama Avid V4s for many good feedback from users.... $632 shipped includes warranty and valve stem from discounttire but they are not local so no services.
vs
Michelins Energy MXV4 S8 for Costco services and local. But boy they cost a lot more.. $205/each x 4 = $820 + tax.
With the Yokohama, I'll have to do the tire rotation myself but than it is better than walk aimlessly in costco for a few hrs. And I think costco right now have the $60 gift card.
I had the Toyo J33's on my SE and damaged a tire but they were half worn when it happened. I decided to replace the whole set with Yokohama YK520's. The Yokohama's have no where near the grip the Toyo's had although I am comparing a performance tire to a all season tire. Unfortunately you will have to purchase the Toyo tire at the dealer at an inflated price. Say what you want about the Toyo's but they grip the road much better on dry pavement then any all season tire. My driving hasn't changed but my tires sure squeal alot more now. The YK520's are also very highly rated.
Go to the ghetto ass used tire place and they will patch it for you. $15 and problem solved. That tire will still last you, no need to spend hundreds...
