Hi all,
I am new to this forum.
I recently had a Check engine warning on my 2002 Camry and went to the dealer for a verification. They diagnosed a P0446 code. It reads like this:
- CAUSE: "Tested with TDT retreived code P0446. Evaporative emission control system vent control malfunction. Tank By-Pass VSV at charcoal canister has open circuit."
- CORRECTION: "Need to replace tank By-Pass VSV at Charcoal Canister. Clear code and re-test."
They gave me a price of 530$ (CAN) to replace the thing (they told me that they have to replace the whole charcoal canister w valve).
My questions are:
- Is this a "fair" price?
- Since I purchased the Toyota extended warranty for 7 years or 120,000 Km (75,000 Miles), my Camry has 85,000 Km and 5.5 years, I thought that all emission control components were covered. Toyota Canada told me that this part was not covered. I am skeptical about that. Because my warranty says that valves from the gaz system are covered. Did any of you encountered this issue?
Thank you very much for your feedback and answers.
