5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Don't you think its a little early to be discussing this? The Gen 7 won't be out until 2012.
Here's hoping that somebody at Toyota monitors ToyotaNation... just to give them some ideas....
Toyota is one of the few automakers that constantly bombard us with commercials that claim their cars/trucks/SUVs/minivans were designed with owner input.....
As for the LEDs, my guess is that there is zero chance that it will be on the Gen 7 Camry.
However, a couple of Lexus models, in additions to the LS, will probably get it.... These new
gadgets always trickle down from the top-end models...
I remember back in 1991 when my sister bought the first 1991 Mercedes W140 S-class. It had a power rear sunshade and I thought that was the coolest feature ever.... I kept playing with it by hitting the power switch, up and down, up and down... That was 16 years ago.... now even a Toyota can be had with a rear sunshade.(power ones on the Avalon, and manual ones on the Camry) I later helped her install xenon headlights in that '91 S-class. Back then, there were no kits and we had to order every little part from Germany. (this was 1995)
They worn out and become regular windows after a while like my 7-year young RX300. Around 5th year I start seeing rain drops on the windows
j
Hmmmm.... that's odd, my mother also has the '01 RX300 and the front side windows
are still repelling rain perfectly. Even in moderate to heavy rain, the windows are practically free of rain drops, as long as the speed is above 35mph. I borrowed it and drove from OH to NH last month and it was raining most of the way...
Come to think of it, I think it's because she rarely washes her RX300.... She only gets it washed/vacuumed/shampooed by the Lexus dealer every 3 to 4 months during the oil changes... Her Lexus extended warranty runs out in just under 1000 miles, perhaps I'll tell the dealer that the rain-repelling glass had "stopped working" and ask them to replace both front door windows, no?
I have a feeling the Gen7 Camry may have an AWD option, because the Taurus now has an option for AWD, and pretty much all mid/upper end cars offer it now.
I'm waiting for Gen 7 to come out.... Surely the Toyota designers have already
started working on Gen 7 by now.... It's only 5 or 6 years away....
Feature that I want to see on Gen 7:
LED low-beam headlights (like on the new Audi / Lexus)
exterior rearview mirrors with intergrated turn signal lamps
All-Wheel-Drive option (maybe a $2000 option? necessary for some folks)
wagon variant (probably will only sell well in Japan)
a true sport version with supercharged V6 packing at least 300 horses, and maybe manual?
rain-repelling side window glass(come on, Toyota, this has already been standard on Lexus for 7+ years)
I'll check this thread in 2012 or 2013 to see how many of these item become reality!
You gotta leave something for Lexus, or what's my incentive to spend $15k+ more on a Lexus vs. a Toyota???
Plus 2012 is 4 years away .... why are we discussing this now?!?!
