HID turn-on make flickering noise...

Everytime I turn the headlight to the on position, my HID kit makes this flickering noise.
Is this normal? For those whom has the aftermarket HID kit installed, do you have the same noise when you turn on your headlight? Please let me know.

What exactly do you mean by flickering noise? My ballasts make a high-pitched whine for a few seconds when they are first fired up, but this is normal for all Denso-Koito ballasts.

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.

OK it's more of a clicking noise when I turn it on. And yes I do have a relay installed.

Hmm... clicking is definitely strange, and I don't think it should be doing that. Do the HIDs turn on fine otherwise? No delay, no actual light flickering?

I hear clicking before your dash lights go on but not much after...

Does your headlights also flicker?

Best Guess: Check your grounds and for loose wiring.

HID turn on fine after that. No delay, no actual light flickering. It has been doing that since day 1 after installation. If I can pinpoint to this is a problem with my aftermarket kit....I will spend the money and buy the Xenondepot kit. My kit is name BAC HID kit.

Relays are supposed to click so a clicking sound is actually normal. If the click is extremely noticable or not really a "click", then there could be a problem. Your relay will make a clicking sound whenever you turn your headlights on. I would guess that there is probably nothing wrong since you've never had a problem. Probably just the relay directing power from the battery to your ballasts.

I hear a clicking sound when I turn it on as well, but thats just the relay. The ballasts make a bit of a whine for a second or two when they are turned on, but i'm guessing thats normal to.

A single click is normal for a relay. Repeated clicks is not. Its possible that there is a loose ground somewhere as Chunger stated.

^OK, I can't hear the sound clip at work so I was just going on what he was saying. Repeated clicks isn't normal. Yeah, that could be ground. But if his lights work fine and don't flicker off and on when he turns on the headlights, ground seems less likely as the culprit.

There is no repeated click noise. It's only click once everytime I turn it on. Well, if it is normal that relay does that then I'm ok with that. It's has been like that since I installed the kit and relay. I just that I had problem with my fog light wire (fixed already as mentioned in other thread) So far no more problem with electrical stuff.
Thanks for all the replied, all of them were very helpful!

Oh, yeah. The click is normal. It might even click if you turn your fogs on and off. In the video, it sounds like there are multiple clicks in the background, so I thought that was what you were referring to.
