3 pics. Black painted brakes, engine compartment, and new rear emblem
I've been bored so here are some pics. I painted my rotors, calipers, and drums black recently. I also made a TRD emblem to replace the rear Toyota symbol on the decklid.
Someone on here told me that painting the rotor is stupid because you can't see it. Here is the rotor and caliper:
Here is the engine compartment:
Here is the rear decklid, the emblem is kind of hard to see:
wasnt it you who told another guy that his red calipers didnt look good?
black looks good and the wheels show them off .
Yep, that was me. If you're going to make brakes stick out they should at least be a killer brake setup. I don't see the sense in making stock brakes stick out.
Even my big brakes are black:
I don't think they would look right any other color on a black car (maybe silver).
I just got back from the racetrack (Brainerd International Raceway).
I saw several cars there and one pickup with red calipers. All of them had stock brakes. The one that actually looked good with red calipers, was the only one that came with them stock. It was an SRT10 Dodge Ram V10 (Viper drivetrain) and I handed him his ass in three straight runs (in my Formula).
The rest of the cars were ricers, and their calipers looked like ass.
Nice rides too! Can you take a closer pic of the TRD Emblem you made? (not going to steal the idea, just would like to see it up close)
I don't trust you because you're a Canadian. I'm sure that you'll steal my idea.
I'm kidding. It's dark right now but I'll try to remember and do it tomorrow. I say "try" because I'm going to be fabricating a new accessory mounting system on my Formula to locate the alternator on the bottom instead of the top. I'll be really busy.
You know how it is...you haven't even cleaned you EGR valve yet you silly Canadian.
^ fair enough. But i've been working a lot the past..um few weeks (no excuse i know) I'll get around to it my cousin (a mechanic) showed me what to do on saturday, so now i have a better idea and not so afraid to tackle it!
And i won't steal the idea! I have my Dale Jr one there anyway!
Tastefully done! Very clean and simple. Your engine bay is very clean as well lol. I like your black TRD centercaps, where did you get it? BTW, nice kills.

Three of the centercaps were given to me by a Service Advisor where I used to work. I then purchased the fourth one through the dealer. The dealer AND TRD said they weren't available any longer so I actually had to call BBS to get the part number and have the dealer order it.
I always keep my engines clean. Everytime I wash the car I wipe down everything under the hood. My Formula has over 240,000 miles on it and the engine looks almost as clean as new. I am really anal, it's a sickness.
