what's the best way to cut off 4 inches of the tailpipe?(added chrome exhaust tip)
I "stole" a chrome exhaust tip for my 2007 Camry and installed it today.
It slipped on the tailpipe easily and I tightened the screw. The thing is that the tailpipe
is clearly visible inside the chromed tip, which shows clearly that it's a bolt-on.
What's the best way for me to cut off about 3 to 4 inches to make it look nicer? I don't have any real power tools that can cut metal pipes... would my Dremel works? Or is there some sort of small saw that I can get at HomeDepot?
I tried using a hacksaw on my Accord with a metal blade, and man, it hardly put a dent. It was simply too thick. So I went out and bought a reciprocating saw for $29.99 and a metal cutting blade for $5 and it cut it in 2 minutes. I figure I need the saw for other things later on.
You could just go to a local mechanic who'll probably charge like $20 to cut it for you.
I used a hacksaw on my old car, and it worked fine btu took a while. I would imagine it would go alot faster if the tailpipe was at a better angle to work on.
I ended up ordering a tailpipe cutter for $22. It wraps around the tailpipe and all you do is turn the handle.... I'll spray some exhaust pipe paint over the edge to cover up any exposed metal. ...then the chrome exhaust tip will go back on...
Below is a pic of the tool...
For obvious reasons, I don't think women should be allowed to have access to this type of tool....
I noticed that you have "eyelids" in your signature. however, I don't see them in the photos of your car... can you should me what the eyelids look like? Where did you get them?
