Gen6 07 Camry Front Windsheild

I was driving my Camry on the highway when a truck in front of me drove over some little rocks and one hit my windsheild and made a small crack. I was wondering if I decide not to go thru insurance and get it done myself would I need anything special for my front windsheild? I notice that theres little black tape thingys all over the glass. Is that there for a reason? Is there a purpose to it or is it just for looks? Maybe an antenna or a front heater or something? I want to know becuase I am going to go to a windsheild shop and get an after market windsheild that will cost me like 200 bucks and wanted to know if I'm going to be missing anything besides the black tape all around my windsheild? Thanks again guys.

You must have clicked on his car domain link, which is actually part of his signature, not the post he made to you.

He just copied what you said over again, because you used a font and size that made it pretty hard to read.

As far as I know, that black stuff around the edges doesn't do anything so you should be fine without it. The antenna is in the rear window. The front defroster just blows hot air on the window, nothing elecrical connected to the window to melt the ice. I think you should be fine getting a window from a windshield shop.

wow what a small world...my windshield just cracked too...i dont know when it happened though...i cant see where the rock hit it so im assuming that a small rock made a small hole(which would have been fixable) and my music cracked it in the like 8 ways that it made...oh and im sure my music is capable of doing this(2-12" JL AUDIO w6v2s), bcus my front and rear windshields do vibrate like crazy....im jus goin to get the windshield myself...im getting the same factory windshield for $200 only because im also getting a new front bumper, a grill and awood steering wheel installed from the same body shop...
