Are 07 SE and XLE chrome exhaust tips supposed to look like they were bolt-on tips?

That's what I saw this morning at a Toyota dealer this morning. There were two new, unsold cars, SE and XLE, side-by-side, both V6 engines. When I looked into the tailpipe, I could see part of the tailpipe withing the tip. (just like the bolt-on tip that I put on my Camry)
Yes, the tips on the V6 are just that. The actual outlet pipe of the muffler is smaller. I am seriously thinking of going the IS350 exhaust route like Epsilon, but I don't want it really loud.

So I'm assuming the chrome exhaust tip was welded on to exisiting mufflers at Toyota's factory?(or whoever makes the mufflers for them)
I bought a Toyota bolt-on tip and installed it. If I cut off some of the original tailpipe so it doesn't show, I would actually be making it look more aftermarket?
my dad got a chrome tip put on his Matrix and it just fits over the OEM exhaust and bolted on..looks horrible..but hey it's a lease..he can get rid of it in 4 years.
my 02 SE V6 came with a chrome tip, not bolted on. but the actually muffler had a chrome tip.
If you wanted to go through all the work of cutting and welding.. i'm sure it would look better than a bolt sticking out the side

Actually, the bolt is completely invisible to the driver behind/next to me, or anybody walking around the car. The only way I can see the bolt is to get on my knees and look under the rear bumper. The only thing that's somewhat ugly is the original tailpipe visible inside the chrome tip... oh well...
when I picked up the exhaust tip, the parts manager looked at me and said: "do you know how much work it is to keep those things clean and shinning? there ain't nothing uglier than dirty chrome" (a good point... but I still bought it anyway....
you came all the way up here and took it? and you never brought my wheels!!!!!!!!!!

They are kind of a bitch to keep clean, but they look great eitherway! Anything but stock!
