Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
NOOb here who has run into my first problem. I purchased a Red 07 Camry SE with the JBL sound package on Wednesday. Yesterday was the first day that I got a chance to really crank up the system to see how it performs. I connect my Zune to it through the AUX jack and on my commute to work had it cranking pretty good. Didn't notice any problems. On the drive home, I listen to ESPN radio and didn't have it cranked too loud. Anyway, today I get in crank up the music and notice ALL of the speakers sound terrible like they are blown. I tried different settings, stereo modes, CD player, Zune and it all sounds the same, crappy. Is it normal for this system to blow and do you think with me just purchasing this vehicle if this would be covered under the warranty. I am sure it is not, but I didn't think the speakers would blow so easily. Thanks for any help and other than that I am loving this car.
It is covered. 3/36. If it's the radio, a dealer with do a Radio Exchange, i.e. fill out a form, radio comes in a few weeks (3-4) later, calls you in, exchanges your old one for a brand new one and you're on your way.

I don't know much about sound system, but is it possible it is a radio issue and not a speaker issue?
Sound is distorted because it is coming out too high from the zune, turn the volume on your zune down. I had the same issue with my ipod. If it is connect via a car charger that has volume control on it, lower the volume a bit, guaranteed your speakers won't sound like they are blown.

Indeed! Setting the volume on your MP3 player too high results in a high gain, which is what causes your problems.

My amp went out after a few months on my JBL system on my 2007 Camry SE. I was driving and noticed a hum/ticking noise on one of my back speakers and the stereo wasn't even on. I was out of state and the local dealer actually took a amp out of a new car on the lot to fix it.
Turning down the volume on the Zune did help. The stereo still sounds like crap when listening to the radio though. I hooked my wifes Ipod up and it sounds bad too. I will check the settings on that to make sure it is the Ipod. Other than those issues, CD's and the Zune sound great (for a factory system).
