5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I took my Camry 07 SE I4 to a toyota service place at 4500 miles. Had a free oil change coupon.. they did what is a Green Service for free.. not sure what all they did... I think only oil change..
Now its at 9800 miles and I need to take it in. Would an oil change suffice or should i get the 110 dollar service done?
So, what are you buying for $110? Oil change and what else? Maybe a cabin filter? Pull it out yourself and check it. Engine air filter? Pull it out yourself and check it. Grease the joints? There aren't any to grease.
How about reading the manual and do what is needed to maintain the warranty--likely not much more than changing the oil. Remember that new car dealers don't exist to sell new cars. They exist to sell new car owners service.

If your dealer (or service shop) is following the Toyota recommended maintenance, your 10k service is the same as the 5k service. And, as stated earlier, you should have gotten your tires rotated at 5k, and now again at 10k.
My 5k and 10k service were about $50, and my 15k service (which requires some more work) cost about $110.
I think they did do the rotation at 5K. Ill check with them again...
Im thinking of going to my local garage instead of a toyota service center since it is only a basic oil change and a tire rotation and brake check, etc...
Any suggestions what oil i should use...??? I have seen posts that dont use the recommended oil.. synthetic? or not? etc...

You deserve a Darwin award. You've figured out the whole system
If your first service consisted of an oil change and a rotation, I would do an oil change and rotation and balance at 10k. Your cabin air filter should be good until 15-20k. I would check your air filter between 10k-15k.
I always get my Lexus serviced at my local Lexus dealer... for the last 9 years. Prices are reasonable. Oil/filter change $33. They also ALWAYS handwash/dry and vacuum. In my area, handwash/dry and vacuum at car wash places start at $18. So, the Lexus dealer's oil change service is actually a steal. Not to mention their customer lounge has many computers with free broadband access, a Starbuck coffee bar, fruits, Dove bars, and a sports bar with two 50-inch 1080p plasmas. I live in LA area for a year and took my Lexus to Longos Lexus... if anyone's been there, my current Lexus dealer's service dept it twice as nice as Longo's.....
When I recently bought my new Camry, I was expecting the Toyota dealer to be cheaper when it comes to oil changes. No... they charge $45 for oil/filter change. This Toyota dealer is affliated to my Lexus dealer. (some Lexus & Toyota dealers are operated by the same company/family...)
My Lexus service advisor said they'd be happy to change the oil of my new Camry. Same $32. Guess where I'm taking it? (although a Camry getting service at a Lexus dealer may seem strange...)
