Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Is it just me or does the V6 '07 Camry idle a bit rough? I had assumed that this V6 engine with its active motor mount (pneumatic vibration reducing mount) would be vibration free, but I get a noticeable amount of vibration in the steering wheel when idling. Also, when looking at the engine, I see it shake laterally a bit every few seconds. Do other people have this problem? It not only sounds like a Diesel truck when I'm coasting through the neighborhood, but it's starting to feel like one too
How many miles you have on it already? If you have enough miles on it, then it might be telling you to clean out the throttle body. Also how hard do you drive it and what kind of conditions. I see your in MD, what part? There's a few of us here.
My SE V6 Camry at 22,000 miles idled about 5 times rougher and louder than my Lexus with 100,000....

I've got about 15K miles on the engine, body, & seats, and 12K miles on the transmission. My driving is about 70% stop-and-go rush-hour driving on the highway and 30% highway speed driving. I don't drive it hard - the tach rarely goes over 3-4K rpm. When idling, the steering wheel and gas pedal and seat vibrations are quite noticeable, but not strong enough to indicate a major problem.
I'm in Boyds, MD (Montgomery County). How about you?
Not sure what that might be. Strange though especially for such low mileage. Bad sensor or something? Take it in and get it checked. By the way I'm in Burtonsville, a few miles north of Silver Spring. And akira is in Germantown/Gaithersburg and he works at Toyota too, but in sales, so dont trust him

Glad to see few Marylanders here. I live in Clarksburg and I am shopping for a family car as well. I just test drove a LE V6 two days ago at the Fitz Mall by Costco. The LE had only 86 miles on it and during the test drive process, I noticed some failry obviouse vibration thru the steering wheel while waiting for traffic light. I was very concerned since it's a brand new car with V6, it should be very smooth. But the salesman didn't have any explaination for the vibration. I test drove two Subaru Legacy (right before I drove the LE V6)as well, one GT with a turbo 4 and one outback with H-6. Both were smooth.
On a different topic, ToyotacarFan, and those who live in Gaithersburg/Germantown area, Have you used Fitzgerald for service and if yes, are you happy with their services. I am almost certain I will buy from them cuz of their no-haggle price and the prices look pretty good too. Thanks.
You might try DARCARS in Frederick. I purchased my V6XLE there and have used them for service twice. So far so good. I like that they are located opposite of the traffic flow for me, since I live in Frederick County just above the Montgomery county line.

No-Haggle pricing is BS ... go to a dealer that you can bargain with. I got my car for $4000 below MSRP ... and the 07 camry came out two weeks prior ... your no-haggle pricing will only get maybe $1500 at best off of sticker!

You Jersey people and your attitudes. I used to work for Fitz but in Bethesda, and Akira works at Lakeforest in Gaithersburg. I've always liked the way they run things. The service dept's are always professional and quite helpful whenever possible. Actually the new Fitz Used Car dealer in Frederick is quite insane. They don't have valets that check in your car. The service advisor goes out to your car, checks you in personally and looks over the car himself/herself to see the issues.
I know exactly what you mean on the rough idle for the 07 V6 Camry's. Purchased mine back in April 2006, with 4 miles on the odometer, now at 17,000 miles driven. Ever since new, the idle was really rough, much worse than my 2001 V6 Camry. Stopped at a light or in traffic, you can really feel the vibrations through the seat, floorboard, steering wheel, basically, the entire interior. However, it doesn't occur all the time (which is rare,) just most of the time (95% of the time.) Extremely irritating to say the least. Well, at least I paid under $25k for a vibrating seat, a feature only available on the $70k+ Lexus LS460L.....
