I'm about to buy a camry, help me choose! 2006 vs 2007 :)
proud gen 3 owner here (96 le), but my dad is about to hijack my car and make me buy a new one. I read on these forums that the 2007 has alot of problems... should i try and get a certified 2006 instead?
Either way, it's going to have to be the 4cyl engine because need to save on gas and cash...
please help me out. i know you guys will, this community rocks
^The 2007 only has "a lot of problems" because all you hear about is the outspoken minority. If you get a 2007 with a later build date, you should be fine. Just don't mess with the transmission and take it easy on the gas pedal during the break-in period, and you'll be fine.

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.

Just bought my 2007 Camry SE 4CL and I've been keeping an eye out for some of the issues brought forth in these forums and so far, I LOVE my car!
BTW. My previous car was also a GEN 3 LE!

please for the love of god get a V6, you'll be so much happier with it... considering the HUGE power difference between the I4 and V6 (268hp vs. 157hp), the V6 is more fuel efficient than the I4....

Agreed... if you check out the thread about the SE MGP... the I4 and the V6 is about the same... if not better. The I4 has to work harder considering that it has to carry all of the weight of the big sedan the camry is. Go for the V6... it's worth it.
Also... I agree what whitechocolate said... take it easy during the break in period (though it's tempting to play with the 268 hp) and you'll be fine. you gotta very the speeds but never make your engine work hard froma cold start. Warm it up for about a minute or so before driving... if you can't wait.. at least 10 seconds. Been doing this and had no problems what so ever with my camry.
Good luck.. but IMO I'd go with the 07... but maybe I'm just bias???
after listening to you guys i feel better about looking at the 2007 models... and as for V6... you guys make great points, i would love to get the v6, we'll see what happens when i go to the dealership today and see if i can get a good deal
only caveat for me is that i am a recently graduated college student and even though i have an ownage credit score(750+), i've never taken out a loan before besides my college loans so they might give me a cruddy % rate, which is why i think i can't afford the V6 right now
btw, how would you compare your camrys to the v6 accords? i am tempted to take my mom's decked out 2005 accord v6 and get her the new camry, with lesser options ( she says she wouldn't miss em)
If you have to have an I4, get an 05/06. The 07 is roughly 300 pounds heavier and the engine didn't keep up with the extra weight. The old V6 didn't offer the big bump in HP that the 07 does. If you ever drive above 3000 feet you will regret not have the V6, and folks here with 07 I4's seem to envy those with v6's because the mileage is about the same, most of the time.

"People who think they know it all are particularly irritating to those of us who do."
My mom has an 2005 accord ex v6 w/ everything except nav, leather seats, moonroof spoiler, abs etc so she never uses the moonroof and could care less about the flashy spoiler, and she only commutes about 20 miles a day whereas i'm doin about 80/day, so she's willing to give me all the comforts and she'll take a more "spartan" ride
another v6 convert, i'm happy... btw evident are you in villanova, PA?
yep i was in villanova university for the last 4 years, i live in willow grove now, but i am always in the nova area to hang out with friends and go to sushiland
