If i were paying that much for oil i'd get mobil 1 instead. I have not heard too many good things about the purple stuff.

Mobil 1 is full synthetic. They make a 5000 mile and 7500 mile extended oil that may be a blend. Their WEB site does not really say those 2 oils are blends.

They may have changed their formula since they lost the Mobil vs Castrol case.

Mobil 1 changed its oil formulation, Now it's a Group 3 Hydroisomerized petroelum oil marketed as a "synthetic". Mobil 1 Extended performance may still be a group 4, but not the regular mobil 1. R purple and Amsoil are using group 4 synthetic technology for its motor oils.

It would be really nice if people would post supporting facts/links with their information.

I would really like to know more about oils, their composition, origins, additives, etc.

Does anyone have any FACTS that aren't from a website with oil sponsors?

www.bobistheoilguy.com is the website that opened my eyes about Mobil oil products. I am not a sucker anymore . No one should be paying a premium price for Group 3 synthetic oil.

No one should be paying a price for group ANYTHING synthetic oil. Some of us have taken vehicles beyond 300K using plain ole conventional oil.

Do you think you will triple 300K? That's what you'll have to do to break even $$$ wise.

You would have to reach 900,000 miles to break even using synthetic oil? That doesn't make any sense at all. Considering that 5 quarts of synthetic oil is $20, I can't figure out where you came up with that.

Are you saying that "plain ole conventional oil" has the same benefits as a quality synthetic?

You seem to post more opinions than facts.

I know that you are going to say the following: "You're just being negative".

It would seem that way because you are well, posting stupid crap.

Back to the question I had... Does anyone have any factual information/links that isn't from an oil company sponsored site?
