5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
SET makes money on EVERYTHING in their five state area. From the cars themselves, to parts, tires, finance, etc...
Basically everything goes through SET before it goes through the dealer. They are the middle man and have made huge piles of money being such.
It's only OEM if it's from Toyota themselves. Many people call the Gen 5-5.5 body kits and spoilers OEM but it's not. It's SET. My Camry had the Special Edition Package installed by SET before it got to the dealer.

No kidding. It can be a real pain in the ass also.
You have to buy your tires through SET but get them locally. SET adds to the price and never lays their hands on them. It makes it much harder to price match or have super low pricing.

I'd love to be in their position though.
I'm confused. Is it the dealer or the consumer that has to buy the tires through SET?
If you see a Camry with a canvas or vinyl roof rolling around, you can blame SET for that atrocity.
As a matter of fact, I saw two of those last week at my local Toyota dealer.
One was a desert sand '07 Camry CE and the other one was a black Avalon.
Ugliest Toyotas I've ever seen in my entire life.
...but my dealer is nowhere close to any of the states occupied by SET,
so why didn't they have these beige vinyl room Camry and Avalon?
