5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Hey guys, I'm just keeping in mind what I might try for when my next car comes around. I've got a gen5 as most people know and have had no problems at all. I really like the new ones, but the only problem is there's alot of issues with the new ones and I don't know if I want to take the risk. The tranny flare, rough idle, rattling plastic and such. If i got one it would be the v6 SE fo rizzle.lol. But aside from these issues is everyone happy with the car? I will being doing some modifications to it, including that sexy borla exhaust and a few other things.
Other than the transaxle flare, I have none of the other complaints I hear people talk about.
I'm hoping the new transaxle I had replaced under warranty a few days ago fixes the flare issue longterm.

overal, most users on here (with a few exceptions like that kooky acura guy) love their gen 6 camrys....i drive them on a daily basis at the dealership i work at, and i have to say i was in love with the gen 6 se the first timr i laid eyes on it....it drives wonderfully and looks beautiful....and i love my gen 5 to death too, but i love the look of the gen 6....im gonna keep my gen 5 cause i love it, but if i could id def get myself a gen 6 SE V6 in a heartbeat....id take one over a G35 or an ES350 any day
i got a I4 gen6. No problems what so ever except a minor hesitation problem which is a tsb but its not even that noticable. other than that its just like our gen5. no problems at all
My only major problem is the flare, but even with that I am very happy with my Camry. It did get better with the transmission replacement, but it's still present. I will do the TSB to update the TCM soon and hopefully that will totally fix the problem.
Even with the flare i'm happy, there arent any annoying rattles for me since I listen to music, but the rattle that was in the dash at first has gone away. I really dont have any issues with my car, the flare happens ocassionally but I can live with it (at least until winter when its colder).
Lol i'm right there with you about not hearing the rattles. My music is always LOUD when i'm driving. Pisses my gf off when she gets in the car and i start it, cuz its like BLAM! Glad to hear you guys are happy. I might just stick with the Camry family.

I'm very satisfied with my Gen 6 Hybrid purchase. I had a nasty center console squeek that took 2 dealer visits to fix... but other than that I'm very happy.
After coming from a job where I drove Legacy GT Spec-B's, Vipers, HEMI Chargers, z06 corvettes, I really dont think the 6 is going to be an issue. Not to mention the fact that I have driven it b4 so I mean, its not like I'm goin into it cold turkey. Besides, there's no better way to learn your new car then to GET ON IT.

I also have the hesitation issue with my I4 as well. Other than that, I do have some rattles in the dash and somewhere along the a pillars.
Ace you're freakin annoying me! haha I started thinking and I'm guessing buying a new car would be better than slapping a turbo on the I4 cause in the end it's almost the same price and you get to drive the car of the year put like 4 grand down or something and just pay monthly from then on which isnt too bad which is about what you'd spend on a turbo and all the maintainance almost
damn you hehe

LMAO! That's what I'm here for, to annoy you dude. How many miles you have in yours? I've got about 95000 on mine and go through about an oil change a month just cuz I do so much driving. So it won't take me long to wear this car down to the ground. Especially with the way I drive it. I treat it more like a new bmw m6 instead of a family sedan. So, it's done me well, but I've gotta think about the future. If you got alot of mileage left on yours then by all means put in the turbo.
EDIT: By the way, I remember someone made a CAI for their camry, but here's one for the 4cyl 07
