Um I would assume he is asking how the Asian Camry puts out 277bhp as opposed to our 268hp? What difference are there? I know Asia has different emissions?

Asian countries have a much LOWER standard when it comes to emission control. I know Vietnam has no control smog test or should I say "What smog?"

Gen6

it's because they have different emissions standards... it's silly though, instead of forcing automakers to undertune passenger vehicles, they should focus on things like factories or commercial vehicles... those are the things that really pollute the environment...

From the specs i've seen, the US version gets 272HP when using 93 octane, so it's not that much of a difference.

*And before anyone starts bashing me, this is what i've read for specs on the engine*

Would anyone ever actually see or feel a difference of 5 hp here? After all, it is overpowered as it is now. Way more than it needs. I have trouble avoiding leaving rubber much of the time. When VW enlarged the displacement of their engine to 1300 from 1200, it resulted in a 10 hp increase, but that amounted to 25%!! That was worthwhile. 5hp, ah, not so much.

For 5 hp...you'll be sursprise how many people would jump in with both feet.
Look at most Cold Air Intake, the dyno that Spectrum Co. did only shown a whopping 3 hp gain!

"Look at most Cold Air Intake, the dyno that Spectrum Co. did only shown a whoopie 3 hp gain!"

Yep, under 25, no wife, no children, no house, no stock broker. Money to burn. I remember the days.
