Question Engine noise when accelerating.....

we just got our '07 SE 4cycl Auto Camry almost a week now , new with only 6 miles on it.....and here's my issue.

when accelerating in 1st & 2nd gear, the engine sounds pretty loud like it's pulling a heavy load or going up a very steep incline/hill. and this is just slowly acclerating, not flooring on the gas pedal (which i don't recommend doing on a new car.) i didn't noticed it driving it home from the dealer becuz the wife and i were busy talking. but a few days later when i drove it again, i noticed it. told the wife and she says it sounds fine/normal to her but today she told me that her engine does sound loud.

is this normal for the 4cycl or is there something wrong with it?

will be making an appointment to bring it in to get it checked out but just wanted to see if any of you Gen 6 Camry owners notice this in theres also.

thanx TN

I heard that the Gen 6 I4 tends to be louder compared to the Gen 5 I4.

Have the dealer check the "boot" seal around the steering wheel shaft under the dash. I think there was a TSB on this. Sorry to hear about the problem. Good Luck!!!

That was my thought EXACTLY! They forgot to reset mine when they swapped out my transmission on my XLE.

Gen6 Excessive Engine Noise See TSB EG039-06

Go to [Copy and paste] <http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/t180105.html>
EG039-06 is the TSB and will explaine it. If you are reading this, you can also select Gen 5 & 6 above and select the TSB EG039-06 there [top of this thread]. This will give you a place to start looking. Good Luck

i kno when i flore my 05 Camry the engine really sounds like its pulling hard. Once i shifted manually with my auto trans and i left it in first it was so loud when i hit the rev limiter that it startled me, LOL. But it did pull all the way through till it hit the rev limiter.
