5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I'm new to the group with a new gen6 SE (magnetic grey metallic). I've searched the forum, and read a lot on wheel and tire recommendations. The wheel (below) is an 18x8 with a 38mm offset. From what I've read it should be fine in terms of size, but I want to make sure none of you know of an issue. I am also considering a 245/45/18 tire with no suspension drop.
What do you think? Will it fit? Is it a good wheel? Specific tire recommendation? I love the style and the hyperblack. Any feedback would be great. Thanks-
245/45/18 might be too thick. you might want to consider going for either 245/40 or 235/45/18. according to the tire calculator, the best match for the 18" rim would be 235/45/18. you also have to take into account what brand of tire you would be going for. falkens and yokohama advans tend to run a bit wider than most other brands like toyo or bridgestone. all those brands are good brands.
that design is a really clean one, but due to the lip, your wheels might look a bit smaller than ther really are. other than that, they look great and would match the color of your car pretty well.

+1 Also, 225-45-18 is less expensive and might be a little easier to find than the 235-45-18

235/45/18 are very hard to find, I wanted those for my next tires but since I lowered it It's not much of a necessity for my anymore. I really like the 235's I have now, since the car is pretty powerful for a FWD setup, the stock all-seasons didnt grip well at all when I took corners or accelerated fast. The ones I have now hold the road very well, and for even more traction I was looking at 245's, also so I would have some protection for my rims since right now it's pretty flush, and i've already scrapped the rims.
Thanks for the feedback. I too have been having a hard time finding the 235/45/18s. I do wonder about the big lip on the wheel as moky mentioned. I also like the Nexo TS wheels in the gun metal (either the 8 or 10 spoke), but I wonder if the offset (42-45) will put the wheel too far into the well. I would prefer the wheel to be close or even with the fender edge. I know several on this forum have these wheels. Thoughts? Thanks again-
I have 225/45 on my BBS 18's(sexy) and they are SMOOOTTH. I'm goin like 95 and it feels like i'm floating.
Ace,
When you said going like 95mph and it feels like I'm floating.
Is "Floating" as a bad way that you feel out of control?
Or "Floating" as a good way that your rims+tires are so smooth?
Sorry I am confuse so I have to ask.
