Gen6 Change automatic door locks function

I want to change my automatic door locks but I can't seem to get it right. I want the doors to lock when I put it in drive (the factory default) and unlock when I open the drivers door (not when I put it in park- again the default). I tried to follow the steps in the manual but it didn't work.

I turned the key to "ON" and within 10 seconds held the drivers die unlock button down for 5 seconds. I can't get it to lock and unlock the locks to "confirm" that it is set. What am I doing wrong.

you need to put the car in neutral before you press the lock button

Here you go.
scenario: turn off "doors lock when shifted out of park"
got in car
locked all doors
turned the ignition to on position (you will hear the chime noise 5 times)
within 1 second of hearing the chime... press LOCK for and let go before the chime noise go away after the 5th times to have doors not lock
------------------------------------------------------
scenario: turn on "doors lock with speed increase"
in car
locked all doors
turned the ignition to on position
with my e-brake on i moved the shifter to N
within 1 second of hearing the chime... press LOCK for and let go before the chime noise go away after the 5th times to have doors lock with speed increase
--------------------------------------------------------

I'll go give it another try. I am just about positive I had it in neutral though.

It took me a while to got it right then I realize that I had to let go the lock button (or unlock if you try to unlock) before the 5 chimes is over. Hope that help.

Well I got it. I found out I had to disable the current function before I could enable a new function. I kept trying to ebable the function I wanted and it would cycle the locks to signify I did it correctly but it wouldn't keep the settings I wanted.

Once I disabled "doors unlock when putting the vehicle in park" (which was the factory default setting) was was able to enable the "doors unlock when you open the dirivers door".

I do not have the manual for my 2004 Camry ... Is it too much to ask if maybe someone can post all the stuff we can program regarding the locks ?

I am looking for a manual on eBay, but couldn't find one with that zippered black pouch yet ....

Instead of starting a new thread, I'll try tagging on to this one..........

I know the dealer can change the locks to open all at once when using the key fob with only one puch, the factory default you have to push it twice quickly.

Any idea's?
