Gen5 transponder key for Gen-5 (2002) camry

i just recently bought my camry off a family friend and unfortunately he hasnt' found the 2nd master key & remote yet.

so out of curiosity, i googled transponder keys and found that they sell plenty of them on ebay and in US.

so my questions are:

1) will they work on my camry since my camry?

2) do they (3rd-party/oem transponder keys) work?

3) what is the programming sequence? (i found one online but not sure if it would work)

4) does anyone know where i get another transponder key made w/o paying a toyota dealership almost $100 for a stinkin' key?

thanks in advance!

no they won't work, they can't work, and you can't program them to make them work... it's because of the engine immobilization system...

the key blanks from ebay will work.

Cut them at walmart and then program them with instruction. (I hope the one key you have is the master key).

I paid $55 at a toyota dealer here in NC to get a duplicate made for my 2002 XLE. He cut it first (then I saw him program... some sequance of pressing brake pedal...) I did not know about the ebay ones back then.

The key fobs (remote) will work too from ebay and they are MUCh cheaper

I searched on Ebay for "2002 camry transponder" and found a vendor with a transponder key blank. Works like a charm but you have to have a master key to program any additional keys. I brought it to my local Ace to get cut and had it working in 5 minutes. Here is the procedure that worked on my 2002 XLE 4-cylinder:

1. Simultaneously depress and release brake and accelerator pedals 1 time
2. Insert existing master key into ignition.
3. Within 15 seconds depress and release accelerator pedal 5 times.
4. Within 20 seconds depress and release the brake pedal 6 times and remove key.
5. Within 10 seconds insert new key into ignition.
6. Within 10 seconds depress and release the accelerator pedal 1 time.
7. After 80 seconds new key is registered and security light goes off.
8. Remove new key and depress and release brake pedal 1 time.

The hardest part is waiting for 80 seconds at the end. Keep in mind the Security light will flash for 80 seconds and then stop flashing. The instructions kinda make it sound like it will stay on steady for 80 seconds then turn off, that's not the case.
