Canada what will happen if I drive my 07 Camy to Canada and it needs warranty repairs?

what will happen if I drive my 07 Camy to Canada and it needs warranty repairs?

example: I drive from New York to Ontario. Once I'm in Ontario(5 hours from the nearest
US border), my 07 Camry breaks down. If it turns out that the coolant had leaked into
the engine(like another thread I read here) and the block had to be replaced.

Question 1 : Will the Toyota dealer in Canada make me pay for the repair?

Question 2 : if answer to Question 1 is yes, will I be able to get the cost refunded by Toyota USA once I'm back in the US?

Question 3 : how will having the above-mentioned repair performed by a Toyota Canada dealer affect my Toyota USA warranty?

Question 4 : does my AAA card work in Canada?

A couple of years ago, my 2004 Saab 9-3 broke down in a similar situation
when I drove it to Canada for the weekend. I called the nearest Saab dealer
who sent out a flatbed truck and towed it to their dealership. Some balancer
or wheel/gear connected to the engine failed. I was told the repair was about
$3200 Canadian Dollars(part & labor). The part was cheap, like $100, but it
took 7 to 9 hours of labor to get to it and put everything back. The Canadian
Saab dealer took care of me. I didn't have to do anything. Not sure how they
processed it, since my Saab was purchased in the US with a US warranty. I did
not have to pay a cent. The dealer even gave me a loaner vehicle(a Saab 9-5)
for 2 days. I did pay for an extra night of hotel, but that wasn't really their fault.
When I picked up my car, it was also washed and vacuumed. (which I thought
was silly, because it was during the middle of a nasty snow storm)

Just wondering how Toyota deals with situations like this...

Have you bothered to read the writtenwarranty that came with your car?
Have you looked at your AAA written contract/agreement?

Your best bet would be to contact the dealership which you purchased the car from, specifically the salesman who sold it to you.

I know what the warranty terms say in the Toyota booklet... Just want to know how they
handle it in real life situations... My Saab was under warranty, which clearly stated that
warranty is valid in the USA only. Yet the Canadian Saab dealer had no problem with
that....

Why don't you call Toyota corporate customer service in the US at 1-800-331-4331 and ask them.

I've actually imported my 07 camry into Canada where I live. Based on the research I did before the purchase Toyota Canada will do all/any warranty repairs for Toyota USA: I guess they just charge them...I believe it is North America wide warranty anyways. Lots of people are importing these days, so I've only heard from their examples....but you should be more than ok!

Hello all, I am located in Ontario. Not so long ago, the Canadian Broadcast Corp (CBC) aired a segment regarding all the Canadian consumers that are buying cars in the USA and importing them to our country.

The CBC reported that Toyota Canada has confirmed that all Toyota cars sold in the USA are covered under warranty here in Canada. I cannot find a link to the video but I found this in the CBC website, I hope it helps:

you will be perfectly fine man. my uncle from toronto had his transmission on his 4runner replaced here in GA while his was visiting. the warranty specialist at my dealer told us that any warranty work that needed to be done on the transmission would be honored in Canada.

Thanks for all the replies!

I also talked to a Toyota Canada rep who assured me that my US Toyota Camry will
have no problem getting warranty repairs while in Canada. She said the Toyota USA
warranty is good anywhere in North America, except Mexico and Bermuda. It's even
good in Puerto Rico and USVI.
