5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
You can take the boy out of the Gen3 SE, but you can't take the Gen3 SE out of the boy.
I have a Gen6 SE now, but there's part of me I'll call an SE purist (which really means I just like my old school Gen3 SE) that thinks some styling cues from the Gen3 might be interesting to see on the Gen6. So I'm did some mild color chopping... see what you think.
Gen6 SE V6 as baseline... love this car!
Of course, Gen3 SE's had blacked out side mirrors and window trim... a bit of a 90's throwback, but hey, I'm just playing...
...and before you say anything, yes I skipped the passenger side mirror... call me lazy.
So then I wondered about the front chrome Toyota emblem... Gen3's were chrome, but what if we extended the blacked out theme?
Maybe too much? I don't know, maybe... so, what if it were color keyed in place of chrome?
Hey, maybe it's just me... I kinda like the final picture...

the final picture looks awesome ( I'm not a fan of chrome), can you try adding some color to the wheels? Have you seen the beetle with body colored wheel paint?
Personally I dont like the black mirrors, I think cars look better when they match the car. But I do like having the dark emblem, theres actually a site that shows how to do it yourself.

I was considering possibly gunmetal on the wheels, just to step toward the same black-out look. Flat black (or even gloss black) would look sweet. I'm very much not a fan of body colored wheels... if only because it seriously reminds me of mid-90's GM products, a very bad time for the General in terms of styling.
That being said... here's a quick take on body color to match Barcelona Red (admittedly, not perfectly)...
I like a gunmetal look to the wheels a lot better... just my taste...
This chopping is contagious... now I have to tint the windows (we're getting tint soon)...

I agree OEM looks great. I'm torn about the black mirrors myself-- it's a look I love on my Gen3 but I'm not sure fits the Gen6. So what do you think about just the chrome trim being blacked out (see below)? I personally really like this look (at least in the picture, not sure if it would come across differently in reality).
