Gen6 Autotap, Scangauge, other OBD devices?

I've installed a scangauge OBD2 scanner on top of the toyota steering colum using the factory supplied velcro so I can monitor battery voltages, coolant temps, air intake temps, and a whole other bunch of readings but I was wondering if anyone has used a autotap OBD2 testor which is CAN compliant? I have a old (circa 1999) autotap which is not CAN compliant and cannot justify paying again for the upgrade considering I've already upgraded this autotap twice at considerable expense. What I would like is to get fuel pressure and oxygen sensor readings in real time mode. I can probably hook up an autometer fuel pressure gauge but this would mean hanging the gauge off the a-piller using a modified gauge pod but I am reluctant in doing so as one of the 7-airbags resides on the driver side a-pillar.

Rumor has it Scangauge will be coming out with another OBD2 CAN compliant testor using a laptop for real time enhanced readings. Anyone know if this is indeed a fact?

Sorry, I don't have any answers for you but I do have one question:

Why? If something goes out of parameters your MIL will come on, then you can check it.

I think there are enough distractions on the road nowadays.

Gen6 "Old School" ways

I understand what you are saying but being a very old school car owner I always like to get a "head's up" when cooling, charging, fuel delivery systems need attending. Voltages when driving are typically 13.5VDC when driving and should they appear low I can quickly get a rough idea what to check (loose serpentine belt to alternator, noisey alternator), Coolant temps when idling in the city should be no higher than say 200 degrees fahrenheit and should I notice a real gauge versus the idiot light I can quickly turn on the heater, pull over, and quickly check for presense of coolant in the resevoir bottle.

Point I am making is yes, if the MIL comes on you can take it in to be serviced but for the preventative maintenance items it never hurts to monitor the engine vitals!
