Gen6 Interesting Noises From Gas Tank

Got out of the car (parked in garage) and smelled gasoline. Went to check the gas cap but it was tightly secured. After opening it I heard these funny noises. It was a mixture of hissing and what you would expect to hear if someone were to put a straw in the tank and slowly blow bubbles.

I'm not worried about it and I know it isn't a problem, but I am interested in figuring out what exactly is causing these noises.

O and this was after a nice healthy run with the V6 (I this engine)

Seems like when the car was new there was a tag hanging on the shift or somewhere close which explained that a pump would come on x minutes after the car parked to pressureize the tank/evacuate the tank. I don't remember which. Take a look at the stuff you stuck in the glove box and it will explain.

I know what your talking about gdanaher. If I remember correctly the tag said it would come on a few hours after you parked the car. But this happened RIGHT after I parked the car. But I guess it's possible it could be the same thing.

After some spirited driving I'm guessing the fuel vapor recovery system/EVAP system was having a hard time keeping up. I wouldn't sweat it.

FWIW - I think there is a TSB on the fuel vapor system, something with the charcoal canister?

On my SE-V6 I noted smelling STRONG odors of gasoline on a few occasions... I though maybe another car on the road was leaking gasoline but it happened on a few occasions and was really a STRONG odor... After getting rid of the car I think the TSB came out, I just figgured that was just another headache I didn't have to deal with.
