5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I have a 2007 Magnetic Grey SE w/ the TRD drop, Venture Paint protection film and only 14,000 miles on it. I took it in for some minor repairs and when doing so I had noticed that the lower front spoiler was chewed-up in some areas underneath. So last week I had to take it in again for some popping noise in the headliner. Before I took it in I put some scotch tape over the areas that had the road rash. The repair that was done this time was some popping noise in the roof. They said they would have to drop the headliner. I indicated to him how nervous I was in regards to this, and that I did not want any damage done doing this. The service advisor said not to worry about it. So they dropped the headliner pulled the plastic pillars off and tightened the stuff around the moonroof from underneath and above. When they were working on the moonroof from above they applied force onto the roof with their elbows and hands. This force created DENTS. When I picked up the car I had looked underneath the front of the car first. Guess what… The tape was chewed through with new road rash/curb rash. Then I noticed the plastic pillars had scratches and stress marks on them from being pried off. The last and worst thing I found was the DENTS on the roof around the moon roof. Today they tried PDR (paintless dent removal) and the guy tried to pound one side flat which now has created hundreds of small little dents. The other side is still dented.
I am so F’n pissed… The service manager said he will fix it. I don’t know how?? I told him that I don’t want any bondo or non-factory paint. I think they should give me a new car do to all this damage was caused by them.
Dang man... I'm not sure what the chances are of you getting it but I'd certainly push for a new car too, that's beyond rediculous. I might've killed someone by now if it was my car...
A NEW replacement car for your car with 14K miles on it? That will never happen even if you sued them and it is unreasonable. They are obligated to fix the damage that they caused.
I definitely feel your pain. I had a similar experience. First, I bought the car from Car Max who puts those stupid key boxes on the windows. I didn't notice until the first time cleaning the car that someone had rolled the window down which had the key box afixed to it and poked a hole in my rear driver's side door panel. I mentioned it in the survey they sent out, and, to my surprise, Car Max called me. They asked why I didn't bring it to their attention, and I told them that I didn't want them to replace my door panel (they'd never make it as good as factory). They disagreed, but I wasn't willing to drive another hour and a half to their dealership to find out. I bought some vinyl repair glue and fixed it myself.
Then, I took my car to my local Toyota dealer for my first oil change. They got oil all over my engine cover and hood, and some moron kicked my f*cking rocker panel and scratched the sh*t out of it. I knew that since I didn't notice it until after I had left the dealership that they would say it wasn't their falt. I was correct. They denied all responsibility and said that I probably did it getting in and out of the car and didn't realize that I had done it. WTF!!??! Any way, now I have the factory alarm sitting at home in a box because I am too nervous to have it installed by a dealership that will do some more damage to my car. Oh well, looks like another home installation.
What ever happened to quality work? I always thought dealers were supposed to fix things the right way the first time. This is why dealers charge more than a local mechanic. It seems like the quality of work has gone down greatly at dealerships, not just Toyota.
