5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Hey guys I just came back from vacation and saw that the 2008 Camry just came out. The MSRP on the XLE 4 cylinder model is only 100 dollars over the 2007 version. (on Edmunds).
1) How much of a price difference should I expect between the two?
2) Is the price difference worth it to go for the 2007?
3) Is the 2007 price gonna drop anymore than it already has?
4) Is it just that I will just be more likely to get a price at or below invoice?

1) How much of a price difference should I expect between the two? About $100
2) Is the price difference worth it to go for the 2007? For a hundred bucks get a car that is a year newer. It will pay off if you sell it in 3 years.
3) Is the 2007 price gonna drop anymore than it already has? No, They have minimal stock and there is no difference in the cars. Selling at invoice is about as good as it will get.
4) Is it just that I will just be more likely to get a price at or below invoice? You can get to about 200 below invoice if you work at it.

You can also be gansta and drive slowly, blocking off traffic. That's what I do.
In Louisiana? Home of more Saturday Night Specials than any other state per capita? Whew, I'm impressed that you think you are that indestructible. Or just stupid. Be careful out there.

Why exactly are you guys advising against the 4 cylinder. Does it lag? Have tranmission problems? Or is it more of a You cant hope to keep up in a race thing? I am not interested in raving at all.
I am kinda limited on my budget, but if I am gonna regret owning this car I want to know why? Would it be better for me to own a LE v6 ?

If you are gonna drive this car by yourself most of the time then the I4 will get you by. But the I4 with a fully loaded of 4 people + AC on= a very slow car. You will not have any power left to change lane, enter the freeway is actually a little dangerouse because you don't have the power to go with the flow of traffic. Those are the times when I bang my head and wish for the power of the V6.

Because the 2008's are almost out, I would wait for them. From what i've heard they are around $100 more, but as someone else said, if you turn around and sell it in a few years, being an '08 instead of an '07 will get you some more money.
