Gen6 Newbie to rims, NEED HELP!!!

I need help, I've got an 07 v6 skyblue camry. I know that I want 18s, but nothing else like width and offset. All I've done so far is that I went to a website put in the year, make and model. It shows that the width is 7.5 for most of them, but a lot of people on TN are talking about 8.0 width and something about 40mm or 45mm and 245 tire size, its all so confusing. Please help!!!

Go to the Discount Tire website http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/infoHome.dos?
and click on the "Reading the tire size" and "Understanding the wheel size"
You need to understand the basis first. After you read it then come back and ask us for more in depth questions. Have fun.

^ Ya I know, but I got it for a graduation gift, so I didn't bother. I might trade it in soon for a 335i coupe. I've got plans for it... CAN'T WAIT!!!!

^ I'm not completely sure if I can get the 335i. I mean I love it but the 335 is too expensive and I can't imagine upgrading anything except the apperance, so I wanted to use this car as a test so I don't mess up on the 335.

YA actually I did, and i've decided to go with 245/40/R!8 tires and 18 inch chrome rims with a width of 8 inches. All i didn't understand was the offset, how can i determine how much offset i need?????
