5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
The life of brakes depends on the perseon driving. in my corolla, I just hit 50,000 miles, na dI have been though 2 pads, ant more recently, I had to get new pads, new rotors, and my drums rebuilt.
I am very hard on my brakes.
My dad's 2001 camry's brakes have lasted 75,000, with only replacing the front pads once.
Just curious, what is the average mileage ya'll are seeing with the new GEN 6 breaks?
I just hit approx 12k and when slowing down at high speed (downhill or freeway), the steering wheel starting to shake now...
The rotor need alignment already?!
I have experienced the same thing...around 12-13k, needed new rotors. The ones were warped and vibrating badly when braking. But now with 17-18k miles, the rotors are beginning to warp again. They are genuine Toyota OEM brake rotors too. I do brake hard sometimes, but now looking into rotors that last longer than OEM. The pads have a lot of life on them though, I would estimate around half way for the fronts - so 35-40k.
Anyone have any suggestions on brake rotors for the 07 V6 Camry?
From what i've heard the fronts usually last about 30K, and the rears 60K. Of course it varries depending on how you drive, if it's mostly highway then it will be more, mostly city will be less.
If you warping rotors at such early mileage, two things are happening:
-lug torque is out of balance between studs or generally too tight all the way around.
-somebody is driving the hell out of the car, trying to stop on a dime, and cooking the rotors.

Did you get it done at the dealer? And how much did it cost for everything?
You're still under the 3year/35K Standard Factory Warranty from Toyota. On you next oil change just mention the brake problem while they are writing you up. My Camry had about 15K miles when I took it in for my 3rd visit to the service dept. I mentioned my brakes were warping(pulsating) when applied at highway speeds. Usually had a some vibration when coming off the highway and slowing down from 80mph down to 35mph. I definitely noticed the vibration, probably due to the last 6 Month of hard braking. They took an extra hour for my oil change. I thought they were simply going to grind the rotors down to fix the problem, but instead they noted the pads and rotors were bad and replaced them with brand new rotors/pads in the front. All covered with no charge to me. The parts and service dept makes plenty of money by charging Toyota directly for this... so they are more than happy to assist. Obviously I wouldn't reccommend this if you are past the warrantly period or have already exceeded 35K miles. Hope this info helped.
