Gen6 Rust? Paint issues?

Hi guys,

My car is only 6 month old and yesterday when we were waxing a car I have noticed on like rust colors tiny spots on the trunk area . My car is metallic silver, I rarely drive it in the highways and it is not a front of the car that having a problems so I do not think that it is a chipping of the paint due to driving. It almost looks like there is a rust dots underneath the clear coat . I did try to scrape it but I was afraid that clear coat would get damaged. I can not really say that the surface on top of “rusty” areas is smooth but it totally does not looks like chips. I have one on the hood of the car so I can compare it.

I will be bringing my car to the dealership in a month ( 5000 maintenance) and certainly would bring dealer’s attention to it. I read plenty of posts stating how it is next to impossible to prove that there is anything wrong with the car paint but come on, it only 6 month old!!! Due to that I was wondering did anyone had anything similar in his or her cars? .

use a clay bar, you probably got some metal from Brake dust, industrial fallout, acid rain deposits and rail dust ..
these little pieces of metal can cause those little tiny rust that you're discovering

After claying there might still be some small rust stains. Polishing will fix this. .......

I've noticed these on Toyota paint for years now, I haven't seen them on my Acura, hmmmm? At any rate they come off with a little elbo grease and some "cleaner" wax, WD-40 takes them off too.

+1 Akide, you are right on. Here is a link to a previous thread that the problem was cause by industrial fallout.

Get a life, and troll along on the Honda/Acura forum..... Why do you have to continue to dig at Toyota's because you had a bad experience??

I have a Honda in the Garage, and have noticed a few of these spots on the Honda.. a good clay bar, wax and detail should take these spots off with no problem.
