2005 SE W/JBL 6 disk system... Does it have an external amp?

I'm going to replace the factory radio in my 05 SE and I wanted to know if there are external amps that I need to bypass or if I can just hook it up and go.

Also, I want some recommendations on some new front speakers. Are you guys replacing both the door and dash or one or the other?

i would get a full component set which includes the door and dash (mid and tweeter), you would have better luck posting this in the audio section

Gen5

lunarmist, let me know what kind of receiver you have and what shape it's in and I might buy it off you. The door speakers, too (and even the rear deck if you're interested)

I have the stock JBL 6-disk system and stock speakers.

Oh, and yes the JBL system uses an amp housed behind the glove box if I'm not mistaken. It splits the front signal into highs/high mids to the dash and low/low mids to the doors. Rears are full range. Have no idea of the power output.
