Maybe you can try the LED tail lights. I don't know if it is possible in your car though... You may have to make one.

5 yrs old and only one bulb changed, the one in the center rear deck, and I assumed it was from the stereo. otherwise, i've been lucky with the bulbs.

You should try replacing th bulbs on both sides when one burns out. If one is old and one is new they often burn out very quickly. I think it has something to do with and imbalance in resistance.

That was a rule for 90's 4runners and toyota trucks but I am not positive it applies to the new cars but I though I would throw it out there. Anyone else know something about this?

My 04 has all orginal bulbs. Our 93 Camry has new headlights and license plate lights, the 92 Previa has new headlights and high mount stop light. Are you sure that they are burned out and not just loose?

Why would you say Camry and Corolla thumb down? They do not manufacture light bulbs. So, take the blame on light bulbs manufacture. Try different brand of light bulbs. I have no problem so far and I hav Camry for 9 months.
