The 2008 Camrys are getting less MPGs

The V6 MPG is 19 city/28 highway. The I4 is 21/31. My 2007 XLE V6 consistently gets over 30 MPH on highways.

This is from your experience or are you going by the new ratings? The fuel mileage rating system was changed for 2008.

Holyshit that's dangerously slow on highways, even though there's no doubt the V6 can keep up at that speed.

That actually close to what I've been getting ~27-28 mostly highway
I thought something was wrong with my car, but I guess I'm on par... i'm sure they didn't change anything engine-wise to the 08 camry

The rated MPG is always on the low side and you can always do beter IF you drive dice and easy. If your a leadfoot then you will probably be around the rating..

it also depends how fast you go. i remember hearing that any speed above 60mph, you reduce the optimal mpg rating due to wind resistance and drag. i always drive city so i cant tell you what i get for hwy miles :-( but for city, i only get 18-19 mpg on my 05 i4.. and remember, thats 100% city

As said before, they changed the ratings. Even on the '07's now, the V6 is only rated at 19/28.

2008 models are equipped with OBD-III - an even more sophisticated engine mgt. process.

Have to wonder what this could do to mpg? You would think it would improve, but.........

Funny how most of these "environmentally friendly" fuels give less mpg.

Love the way the govt. and big oil keeps screwing us.

We will have to wait 2008 Camry owners to report what their actual MPGs are in this forum.

UK

95% highway (over mountains too) in my V6 SE and I get around 28mpg if I'm not driving like an idiot - glad to hear it's the expected amount! When I bought the car the ratings still had it above 30mpg for the V6, which I've never managed to get.

+1 I usually get about 25 mpg on my car...but when I was driving the rental same 07 LE I4 I think it was down to 15 mpg but it was so fun! I'm sure you can figure out why.

I think they probably tweak the transmission.

Your car's mpg depends a lot on the terrain you are driving on. If the car climbs a long slope then descends back to the same altitude in a shorter distance the mpg is usually worse.

2008 models dont have OBDIII...

And they dont get less MPG. As we said before, it's because they use a different standard for mileage ratings.
