5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
for those of you working for toyota, can anyone answer if the 07/08 camry shares the same platform with the current toyota mark x? it seems that the 02-06 models share a similar body and platform with the toyota mark II, jzx110.
reason for this is that there are coils available for the current mark X, and if the stock/part/reference number of the suspension of the 07/08 camry matches the mark X, then we might have coils available for our cars. only prob is the mark x is a rwd while we are fwd
I thought it shared alot of parts with the Lexus GS.
^^ our cars or the mark x?
i was told by a local japanese shop here that the mark x, windom and chaser's suspension was compatible to the 07 camry, but i am kinda doubtful since those are fr cars, minus the windom (lexus ES) which is also ff.
nope... they are no way the same... the mark x in a performance car with 2.5l v6 engine.. with rear wheel drive. the camry as we know it is front wheeled drive... the mark x is also shorter and has fewer luxiours stuff like leather seats, electirc seats... smart key and stuff....
also the mark x is a JDM car, japan domestic market one... it is only sold in japan, if u wnat it... u need to get it from a parrall importer.. this is the situation in south east aisa
as for the paultan review, thats the supercharged version... very powerful... but its in limited production.
this is one of the photo taken at a mark x fan club located in my country
and this is my fav one... check the rims out......
O ya, i don think the coils will work.... of the nature of the drivetrain... thats waht i was told

yes it does, but its tune differently... it needs better octane.. 98 while the IS able to use 95 or 92.... however the price of the mark x is half the IS 250...
yea, its has the same 6 speed. with steptronic gear shift.. as for bhp i am not sure.. but its limited at 187km/h, but i had friends who hit 220km/h - 230km/h... Its Km NOT miles.... it should give u some idea on the bhp...
wow thats impressive.....toyotas in japan are the hawtness
id go over there just so i could come home with one of these babys....it reminds me of a camry, only better
nah.... camrys still the best... i considered the mark x and the camry... however... the mark x has a few problem... it eats expensive fuel, its rear wheel means tends to have fish tail... its back seats have a hugh hump.. this is due to the drive shaft of its rear wheel drive...
both cost bout the same 91000 singapore dollar plus tax.... the car without tax or OMV is value at around 28000 sing .... about 60000 us and 19000 respectivly

The Toyota Mark X shares the same rear wheel drive platform as the Lexus GS luxury sedan and was developed with the concept of creating a dynamic and stylish sedan that enhances the joy of driving. Sharp, deeply sculpted character lines and attractive surfaces, together with a three-lamp configuration for the headlights and an integrated rear bumper and diffuser, convey a sense of quality suitable for a luxury sedan. Proportions suitable for a comfortable rear wheel drive vehicle convey the driving performance at a glance. A silhouette with a low center of gravity combines with a trapezoidal form to express dynamism and energy.
The Mark-X has a 2.5 liter V6 engine that generates 212 horsepower. Transmission for the Mark X is a Sequential Shift-matic transmission that offers full automatic operation as well as a pseudo-manual mode for a more controlled drive. The automatic 6-speed gearbox offers smooth and noiseless cruising. Additional driving pleasure suitable for a new platform comes from class-leading strong driving performance, excellent maneuverability and driving stability, as well as from high levels of quietness and riding comfort.
The Mark-X features excellent and innovative lighting, including a large, advanced ceiling light that uses LEDs, as well as lights in other interior areas including foot areas and doors. The lighting patterns as well as the intensity of the illumination are automatically controlled according to the circumstances to create a new interior feel, such as when a door is open. When driving, auto headlights are switched on whenever lighting is poor.
Safety features on the Mark-X include a GOA (Global Outstanding Assessment) collision safety body that has been further developed with a view towards lessening pedestrian injury and superior head protection performance in case of collision. ABS, EBD and SRS airbags are also standard on the Mark-X.
i know what a mark x is, what its history was and that it is a rwd performance car which share similarities with the current is250. i was just wondering suspension wise if it were compatible since the japanese shop said it would be completely compatible. i just didnt want to be the guinea pig should there be any problems that arise. i do know that the calibration and rates for the coils would differ between a ff car and a fr, thus i didnt really see the compatibility of the mark x's suspension with the camry. it would be different if we were talking about the windom and the camry, since they are almost similar and share a lot of parts together considering they have the same platform.
i would definitely love to get my hands on one of those mark x's or chaser even, and vip-style it
