5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Haha, the Silverado is a good truck. I am not 'biased'. Because I do not look at 'all Toyota's are junk' and 'all Ford's are great'. I love my F-150 and Tempo, but I also love my Silverado. I am a huge fan of the Toyota Sienna (genius car), and the Tacoma. I have huge respect for Toyota and their success. I prefer Ford over-all, based on personal experience with Ford products. The Tempo and F-150 are flawless. Reliable, durable, good looking, good performing, well equipped, fun to drive and they have cost me no money, time or pain.
Oh, for the record, there is no relation to Pinto and Tempo. None at all. When cars like Tempo (and older Corolla's, Corsica's, Spirits, etc.) are well maintained they can be wonderful products. I've always been of the opinion that older is better. Especially with the minivans we've gotten. We have leased minivans for three years since 1995, and each year they get a little worse, and a little worse, so that it went from awesome car (1995 Caravan) to a piece of shit (2004 Venture).
The picture in my signature is of my favorite car. I have no Toyota (yet, may be getting a Sienna in 2008), otherwise, I would put it in my signature (due to the fact that www.toyotanation.com is a Toyota enthusiast forum). It was either the F-150, Silverado or Tempo. I am sure that people would think it a joke to have a Tempo in my signature, seeing as I am one of only a few people who actually like them.
Ford's only cars that match Toyota's are F-Series, Econoline E-Series, '08 Taurus and Edge. The Mustang is only doing so well because it literally has no competition! Fusion? Nothing compared to Toyota Camry and Honda Accord. Sure, its a step up from the old Taurus, but its no where near the status of Camry. Same with Focus and all other Ford cars. I am not a big fan of new Ford's, only old ones. 1980's and 1990's.

"Like every other" is false. While you believe this, it is not true. Can you honestly say you do not know at least one person who has a Ford that has not had mechanical problems? I know people who love their Ford cars and trucks, and they've been reliable. I also know people who hate them, and who have had trouble. Same with Toyota's, same with Dodge's, same with Chevrolet's. My uncle has had Ford F-Series trucks since the late 1950's, he refuses to have anything else.

Getting this thread back on track... a couple comments for JermyWerm.
First, the video was a bit poor, and it's hard to track your acceleration well. I give you the benefit of the doubt and say you did at least close to the time you mentioned, and potentially right at it. It's just hard to see the video.
Second, you act astonished by our reactions to your claims of 0-60 times, but you weren't exactly forthcoming about the 5-speed, which makes a big difference... it let you tap the most out of the I4's (relatively) limited torque, and let you drop the clutch at high RPM's.
But hey, I'm just to see more 5-speeds on the road... rock on, duuude!

Awww, c'mon now... only a few of 'em blew up with little more provocation than a nudge in the rear bumper.
And you can argue that the Taurus was one of the first domestic vehicles to usher in more modern styling in the early 80's including flush windows and aero styling. Too bad they wadded a piece of gum and stuck it to a roller skate when they designed the third generation.
And hey... you gotta hand it to 'em for that Model T thing, they had a good thing there.
And I certainly wouldn't turn down a nicely restored 1955-1957 Thunderbird... a real classic there.
And seriously... the GT... dear LORD that'd be a nice addition to my garage.
I'm sorry, where were we in this thread?

Ford's had their share of good and bad cars. Thunderbird, Mustang, Model T, GT, F-Series, Taurus, Bronco, and lets not even start on the European and Australian models.
