how do I test my 07 Camry's glass breakage sensor? (break a wine bottle in the car?)

how do I test my 07 Camry's glass breakage sensor?

I tried breaking a wine bottle inside the car while the system was armed... no response.
(the glass bottle was placed inside a heavy-duty plastic bag)

When the Toyota dealer installed the system, I had them set the sensitiviy set to a low
setting because my office parking lot was near an airport. However, I no longer park there,
so how do I set it to a higher setting?

Thanks!

You should have a Glass Breakage Sensor Owner's Guide!!!!!!!!!!!!

Set the alarm, tap with medium force on the center of the drivers window with the tip of a key. Alarm should go off.

The glass breakage microphone and ECU s/b behind the glove box. The ECU has an adjustable sensitivity dial.

I had to reset mine too, the dealler said they set it at max but they lied. the adjuster is behind the dash. you have to take out the glove box. look staight up and towards the sterring wheel. I also repositioned the mike. drilled a small hole the the facia under the glove box. Can't even see it unless you know it is there. Where it is now is rediculous. I tapped on a glass inside the car and it went off. On the autos glass is harder (might damage glass). Was parked under a nut tree, and it went off OK every time a nut hit the car.

Your post is confusing, at least to me. If it was set to max by dealer, a nut would set it off. Please clarify the sequence of events and issues.

To test mine I tried tapping on the glass with the key from outside of the car but I couldn't get it to go off. I wasn't hitting it that hard because I was afraid of chipping the glass. I ended up getting a glass out of the kitchen, sitting in the passenger seat with the system armed and tapping it with the key. It went off when I did that. I had to wait 30 seconds after arming the system before the alarm becomes "active".

After I did that glass and key test I was able to get it to go off by tapping the lower part of the windshield. Probably worth a try.

My point was, I took it to the dealer and they said they adjusted it to the max and that "the glass has to break inorder for it to go off. After I took the glove box out and the facia under the box off and looked up it was only set on 3. So I set it to max (10) myself.

Your first post was understandable too.
