Gen5 Installed FOG lights !!!

I finally installed fog lights this past weekend.

Mine is a Kentucky made Camry, so no covers for the fog lights. I had to cut them out, and I do not believe that no matter how careeful you cut the light holes it will ever look good as good as a factory bumber ready for fog lights. Anyone who wants to have everything perfect should get an SE bumber in my opinion. I was ready for the imperfection Especially considering that my dealer asked for around 1600 dollars to install fog lights.

JB weld is strong as anything .. make sure you clean and sandpaper the inside of the bumper really well. It held the brackets so strongly I was surprised. Electrical was a breeze .. I used an existing grommet thingie to slip the single cable in, but I am not happy with that. It is going through the side of the grommet and it might/will let egine gasses into the passenger compartment for sure. I will most probably get the original turn stalk and the relay and use the original wiring afterwards. Right now I used the wiring that came with the kit.

if anyone needs detailed pictures please let me know and I will email them .....or maybe post them somewhere if there is interest.

All in all it took close to a full working day with all my mistakes and stuff .... not a difficult job, very doable by a handy person.

I would like to see pics on how it turned out. I have been considering this job since I got my car but I figured it would be a lot of work. Maybe one of these days I will take it on. Thanks for the info.

I hope it is ok to post all these pictures here .....

Right after I took the bumper .... Pay attention to the white clip .. They need to be slightly pried open witha long screw driver before they let go of the bumper.

All the tabs the bumper has to sit back on properly ....

The red thingie is what holds the bumper on the side ...

First hole, it looks horrible

Fog light temporarily in ...

Inside views .. I wish the bumber had the brackets there ...

Other side ... notice the cut line .. way inside .. do NOT follow the what looks like a marked area on the very edges ... they are way too big ...

Right fog light has a better hole and is temporarily in.

Both lights ion temporarily and closeup ...

The brackets .... this was the best I could do .. These are from home depot ... They were easily bednable and I shaped them as much as I could ... I would try to get something better though They are very difficult to align to be over the holes on the lights ...

Here is how they look installed .....

No electrical pictures ..... You either know how to do it or not ..... Not something to mess around .....I do not want to cause anyone do something silly trying to follow pictures I could have posted. if you don't know how to do it get it done by someone who knows please.

Very cool, thanks for the nice pictures and it looks great! I thought there was factory wireing to plug in the lights down there but then again, I might be thinking of my other car.. What did you used to do the cutting?

That JB weld stuff is awsome. i have even used it to do body work on a plastic grill and it worked flawlessly. My dad used to to re-install a key in a damaged crank shaft on a 350 V8 and it's still running like that to this day over 10 years later!

I used a heavy duty cutter and used a dremel tool to smoothen it out. The initial hole ijn both cases were too small The first one barely required much trimming the other one required quite a few areas. Once I was done the cut areas were straight and smooth.

And I remember one person posting a few pictures of him cutting the holes, and that was an awesome job .....I am too old to have the patience to do that I guess ..... and I wanted to finish it ona weekend.

To be honest when I have tons of money, I will purchase an SE bumber have it painted and purchase the original Totoya fog lights and put them in. That will also be the time when I get an autodimming mirror with a homelink and compass

Heavy duty cutter to cut through the plastic ...

There is factory wiring but you have to buy the original turn stalk and the relay and I did not have them. So I just wired it with the harness the kit came with.

JB weld is just incredible stuff !!! I am now an official fan of JB Weld hehehe

yeah I'm thinking of going dremel all the way so it's all smooth and I don't have to be as careful to have gaps where I dont want them to, might use an old school thin wood saw for the main but will try the dremel probably as long as the plastic doesnt start melting around the disc lmao happened with one other project I was doing that was a pain

good job man, seriously, it's barely noticeable, your cut lines. definitely wouldn't waste money on an se bumper you did a great job. A suggestion for you, if the cut lines/gaps bother you, silicone around the fog light from the inside of the bumper so you won't notice gaps.

Me i was fortunate to have the japanese bumper and my fog light holes were pre-made with pop off covers. I still used the kit wiring and saved my money from buying the turn signal stalk. Since I have my fogs on always when my low beam headlights are on, i used the +ve wire from my driver side lowbeam headlight for the relay signal to activate the relay. Then i ran the on/off switch to the inside where the fuse box is, fit right in the factory hole under the dash.

Thanks for sharing, my mom has a u/s made '05 in black (no fog cutouts) and is begging me for fogs but i keep putting it off for later. might consider.

Good job. Unless you really get up close and look at it, you can't tell that it was cut out.

And as far as JB Weld, yes... its a retrofitter's best friend.

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.

So what is the best tool(s) for cutting the holes out. You guys inspired me for my mother's '05 cam. Is there another thread anyone knows of showing the procedure / finished product? (yes i tried the search and it's overwhelming to go through all those)

It looks great!

I also installed driving lights in my Camry (Gen 5.5 though). I used angle aluminum, 3M double sided tape, and plastic push fasteners to attach mine from the backside. I used a carpenters knife for the rough cut and a Dremel to clean the edges up to near perfection. I used the generic switch provided with the kit. I wired it KO so they're on all the time.
