Gen5 gen 5 intake diagram

does anyone have the schematic layout for the gen 5 intake sysetm? i am custom making a silicon tube intake tract/removing the resinator as an experiment to see if it will resist heat better and net any gains in power...

I plan on fabricating a heat shield for my cone filter I installed in a cooler loacationat some point as I have done before on my 4runner. In that case I was able to section off the front corner of the engine bay and had cool air comming in from around the head light. The bat. location prevenets this location on my Camry. I too am interested in what you come up with.

My Camry right now:

My old 4runner setup with heat shield:

haha i havent been flamed yet becuase it not planning on using a cone type filter....im going to connect the new heat resistant silicone tubing to the stock airbox, and just run the TRD filter i currently use...the new tubing will only offer better heat resistance, and the deletion of the resinator....im not trying to accomplish a louder sound, but see if it is possible to eke a few ponies from the stock intake sysetm by using better tubing and removing the resinator

just experimenting with an idea thats all

Personally, I think that unless you're running a V8 or a forced induction setup, trying to get horses out of intake systems is fruitless...

But the best of luck anyway. If you can prove me wrong, I applaud you.

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.

He isn't being flamed because he's being realistic.

It's worth a try if you have the time. I've considered ways to improve on the air intake for my car. I'm sure that there are slight improvements to be made, but to me it's not worth it. The factory setup is very effective.

If he posts that his car is quicker and he can feel the extra power, I'll laugh my ass off and the flaming will begin.

i have the time and willingness to try something different.....i believe theres minor improvemnts that can be made....i know that there will probably be no net gain in power, but im really striving to improve upon the efficency of the stock system.....the two large resinator boxes on the intake tract just above the intake manifold and against the firewall look highly restrictive and have to go....another idea i had is to shorten the length of the air duct that does behind the grille by yutalizing a 3mz solara airbox, since it ios the same box as the camrys, only the duct goes directly to the grille without dipping into the nether reigons of the lower engine compartment

the only real issues i see in using a new tubing setup is the mass airflow sensor and the vaccum switching valve assemblies that are mounted along the intake tract....im seeking a way to delete the resinators mainly, without losing the bong for the MAF sensor and mounting piece for the vaccum switching valve

i hate that snaking air duct too. looks way restrictive. i too wondered why they couldn't just make a straight path form the grille to the box. if there's no gains involved, at least it would be more efficient.

how are you gonne delete the two post-filter resonators? are we talking about that one box and that one tube-of-a-resonator-thing? i already deleted the huge white one before the filter and it didn't yield any change at all imo. it just looked way too restrictive so i took out that box and plugged it up. there's just slightly more sound in the very low rpm- which i could live with.

Well my intake gave me an extra 100 hp and increased my gas milage to 75MPG so what do you think about that!? I can't help but burn rubber at every stop light with all that extra power!
