applied Dynamat Extreme to entire trunk lid, now it's a little to heavy - what to do?
I had several sheets of Dynamat Extreme left when I finished with my door speakers.
I decied to use them for the trunk area, to make the subwoofer box work a little better.
I applied the Dynamat Extreme to the entire inside of the truink lid. Now it is a little on
the heavy side... When I pop the trunk, it just pops and comes up half an inch or so...
probably cause those tension bars are not strong enough to push the trunk lid up.
(used to go up 8" or 10" before I applied the Dynamat) On my other cars, there are
adjustable small coil springs... I just shorten them to increase the tension and the trunk
will pop a little higher... I'm not sure how to do this on a '07 Camry.... Can those two
bars holding the trunk open be adjusted?
Thanks for any info!

Just wondering, any reason why it matters how high the trunk lid pops up?
I have installed a trunk handel on the inside of the trunk. The handle came from a
a 2006 Toyota Crown(Japan model, right-hand-drive). It automatically extends out 2
inches so I can close the trunk without touching the outside of the trunk. However, it
doesn't work well, now that my trunk lid is weighed down by the Dynamat....

My doctor used to tell me when I told him something hurt when I moved a certain way, that I shouldn't move that way and it wouldn't hurt (pay the nurse on the way out.)
If the lid is too heavy to open:
1. Take the stuff off the lid to lighten it.
2. Turn the sound down a little so you don't need it.
You could keep reengineering the thing till you get it right, but one change will require another change (as you've discovered) and pretty soon your car will begin looking like a Buick.

my trunk with no sound dampening only pops up 1/2" or so. not sure why u would want it to pop up so high. if its a windy day, it could catch a draft and push it up really hard.. thats no fun..
yep same here, mines just pops open a bit so i can lift it. I wouldn't want any spring loaded action to be honest, i rather enjoy the fact that it lays kinda low when I open the trunk, last thing I need is a wind gust and have it flail open
