Gen6 Question about Warranty Issue

Hey guys, quick question...I was changing my tires earlier in the week so I could put my LoProfiles on my car and when I was changing the lug nut, the piece itself that is connected to the rotor or the car snapped off. I didnt even loosen it that hard and plus the bolts looked extremely rusted and old but the car is 1 year old with 28k miles on it...Lemme know what I should do or whether or not the warranty should cover this...also I had put performance lugs on the car with the stock tires i dont know if that would make any difference in the rust or anything.....

No, that wouldn't be covered under warranty. It sounds like the lug nuts were over tightened previously. Usually installing a new stud isn't too hard. They arn't expensive either. Maybe someone who has replace the studs can comment.

I haven't had a Gen 6 rotor off yet but the typical approach is to pull the wheel, caliper, rotor, leaving the hub on the end of the drive shaft with cv joint. There is usually a way to turn the shaft to a point which will permit you to punch the lug out to the rear and then you just press in a new one. Get it started anyway and then knock it in from the rear, making sure it is square. Kind of dirty job if the brakes have been dusted up but not hard to do. Lub bolts should be less than a couple bucks each.

I'd be mildly concerned that all of the bolts have been over torqued and perhaps are weak. No easy way to test this in the driveway though. Just be mindful of how tightly the lug nuts are tightened, and in what order.
