Question Bluetooth on XLE Keeping it on

Here's a question thats been bothering me. With the bluetooth enabled stereo/phone, its a great feature, you can make calls and accept them via the steering wheel, its cool. So here is the question. While driving you accept a call, while still talking you want to park it, you find your spot in a lot. You push the start/stop button on the ignition, and poof, your call ends cuz you just shut down the car. Any way of getting around this ? Cuz, I think if you have the key type ignition, all you do is turn it to the ACC setting. Any way of avoiding this ? or basically you end your call once you shut down the car. Otherwise, after shutting it down you turn the settings to ACC setting back on. In the XLE with the push button its one touch without holding onto the brake pedal, and then make your cell phone call again.

Harv.

Once you shut your car off the call should automatically transfer back to the phone. I have a regular key for my xle with bluetooth and if I cut my car off and open my phone my call transfers to the phone. Also, You should be able to transfer the call manually through your phones options. Either one should work but you should only have a call ended if you end it or the other person ends the call, but other than that you should not have a problem with your phone and bluetooth.

My only recommendation is to use the 'handsfree off' in the call menu of your phone so you disconnect from the BT system. Then you can shut down the car without disconnecting the call. Of course, if you go to ACC at this point and the BT reconnects to your phone, there will be a second or two period of silence where you can not hear the caller and they can not hear you.

Good question....I need to "try that" and see if my call stays connected after shutting the car off.

It is phone/OS/BT stack dependant. It's a function of the phone as to whether or not it maintains the call after a BT disconnect. Most default to a disconnect as they assume a BT disconnect is equivalent to a call end.

The solution is to shift the transmission into "N", then push the engine "Power" button to cut the engine and put the car in "Accessory" mode. Then, you can press the brake pedal and shift the transmission into "P". Your bluetooth connection will not be interrupted this way. BTW, this also works if you want to keep listening to the radio uninterrupted after cutting off the engine. To preserve the battery during long calls, I'd suggest shutting off the navigation screen LCD.
