5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
So in addition to my 2007 Camry SE V6, I bought a new toy tonight. I bought a 2008 Highlander Sport V6 in Magnetic Grey Metallic! Pics are soon to come...
So now I have:
2005 Mercedes-Benz CLS 500
2007 Toyota Camry SE V6
2008 Toyota Highlander Sport V6
I wish I had that kind of money! Congrats on your purchase, and hurry up with the pics!
I actually saw a 2008 Highlander on the highway yesterday, I couldnt tell what it was exactly but the grille made it look like the front of a new Tundra, although when it passed I saw it was the new highlander.

Congrats! I was checking one out at the dealer when I was waiting on delivery of my Sequoia. It definitely an improvement over the 2001 Highlander we had.

22 years old and sitting on some $100K worth of depreciating assets... I'd say I'm envious of that kinda bank... but I am.
The new Highlander is much nicer in styling... a little less 'mini-van', a little less 'station wagon'... a little more 'nicely styled cross-over SUV'. Good stuff!
Congrats on your new vehicle, and hope you enjoy the ownership experience!

I was checking one out also but decided to wait until 2009 since this is the first year of the redesigned. I learned my lesson not to buy a 1st year production in the redesigned from my 2007 Camry.
Congrat on your new toy!

very nice choice! must be nice to have that kind of coin
the highlander feels like a big camry to me...its easy to drive, very stable, good milage and very comfortable....i love the new ones
This thread is worthless without pics! I guess you traded in the MDX eh? How does the Highlander compare to the MDX in terms of acceleration and handling? Also, how do they compare in the snow? I really like the new Highlander Sport, a black one at the dealer caught my eye and I wish my mom would trade in her Montero for it. It looks very modern inside and out.
hey...kinda out of the subject, but I checked out ur car at cardomain...looks really nice...I have the SE, starting to make small modifications here and there....was wondering where you did you get the seat covers and shift knob..
thanks in advance!

deficit spending my friend, deficit spending... unfortunately with this type of lifestyle, he'll be paying off loans until he's 75...

I'll get pics soon, I promise! My parents have my digicam right now because they are on vacation and haven't bought one of their own. I sold the MDX in May to a private buyer. I loved that damn thing too, haha. I LOVE the Highlander though and it accelerates and handles like a dream, it's extremely quiet and bumps are unnoticable! I don't know how they compare in the snow, yet, but ask me in late early-late November when it really starts to snow here. So far, the only thing I don't like on it are the HUGE radio knobs, which is just a minor insight. My mom has a 2002 Highlander, and this thing is in a WHOLE different league than the last generation! Check back in with me in a couple of months though!

Unfortunately, you are incorrect. Not trying to be conceited, because I'm definitely not, but I do not have a note on any of the 3 vehicles I own. I am very educated and have a great career, which pays more than I could ever ask. I have worked my ass off to get where I'm at, especially at 22.
I am selling the CLS 500, because it just sits in my garage and I almost never drive it. I think I'm a little anal about scratching it, or someone hitting it. So I am about to list it and try to sell it privately. Next up, since I'm still renting an apartment (sad, yes I know), is to buy a house!

The world is upside down... enough money to throw down 100 large in cash for depreciating vehicles... but still throwing money out the window in rent versus building equity in appreciating real estate (a house). You could be driving one car (a Toyota, of course ) and leveraging the rest of your income to make it work for you, rather than buying more cars.
Of course, I don't live where you live, and I don't know the housing market there, and I don't know your income, so I can't judge obviously. Any thoughts I have are from the reference point of my own income, which is apparently much more modest than yours.
Back on subject, though... hope you enjoy the new ride. Treat it well!
Edit 12:17AM, Monday 8/20/07: I re-read the above stuff I posted and it seems pretty judgemental... sorry about that... again, I can't judge because I don't know your background and life situation. If I were rolling in cash, I'd probaby be hunting down and rehab'ing a dozen Gen3 SE V6 5-speeds. So who am I to talk?
