Grab your lucky hacksaw, cut off the bottom of the airbox. Also you could toss your spare tire and jack.I cut my muffler off and ran straight pipe out, that cost me $40 after paying $30 for the tip. http://video.cardomain.com/clip.aspx...E772F69CA79625
Cutting off the bottom of the airbox will only allow hot engine compartment air to enter the engine. Hot air equals less power. That's a free mod with no good purpose at all.
youre right. Its not quite as bad in my car because the manual transmission is so much smaller and runs so much cooler than an auto. There is alot of room for fresh air to flow around the hole in my box.
where is this carbon filter located? i've looked when i replaced the air filter but have noidea what people are talking about when they say they removed stuff from it.
yea gut the interior. rip out all the carpets, the speakers, stereo, ac, passenger seats, everything. Now get a drill and swiss cheese the frame. Lighter = quicker

It's in the lid between the air filter and the MAF sensor. It's held in by plastic rivets/melted plastic tabs.

I'm reviving this thread because I think its a funchallenge for folks. I'd love to hear of free or sub $50 mods, especially to interiors. Be serious, Be creative, lets hear 'em!
