Gen5 Gen5/Gen5.5 Taillight Mod Thread

Okay, has anyone done this yet?

Gen5: Rewire the top parking light so that it has a dual filament bulb and actuates during braking.

Gen5.5: Rewire the inner red light so that it has a dual filament bulb and actuates during braking.

Anyone?

for gen 5.0, i was thinking of just converting that part to a single filament 921 stoplight, rather than a stoplight/taillight dual filament bulb, since the taillight portion in the bottom part is sufficient enough for taillight duty.

i would connect the positive lead from that bulb and splice it into the positive lead of the stoplight bulb on the bottom dual filament harness. then i'd snip off the remaining positive lead so it's still grounded, but only turns on when the stoplight turns on.

sorry if it's understandable. i'll get to it sometime next week.

I have my own "mod" that I have been wanting to do..

I have been looking for chrome or LED bulbs for my 5.5 tails and I can't seem to find them anyware! That yellow top lense drives me nuts. It sure would look a lot cleaner. If I find some mabe I will post some before and after pics.

try these: http://www.autobarn.net/31hipesili.html

i use the silverstar signals myself, and i love the look.

and check this thread for pics of it: finally, pics of my ride!
you can see my turn signals have a very slight bluish cast to them, much better looking than the stock yellow bulbs.

as for the tailight mod, sounds like an interesting idea! although, i probably wouldn't mess with the stock wiring on my car. as it is though, i have already very bright brake lights. I retrofited my third brake lights with LEDS, and my spoiler has LEDs also... very BRIGHT!
