Gen5 Rims and tire fitment question for a n00b

Hey guys,
I'm going to buy a set of used IS300 rims tomorrow from a member of this forum. He's selling it with the tires, but theyre 215-45-17. I was wondering if they'll fit my car. My car is a 2006 Camry LE. I've seen another member [whitechocolate?] who has these rims on his car, but his tires were different...

will these tires fit my car with no issues ? or would i have to shop for the new set of tires...

You will be fine, your speedo will read 62 when doing 60 (3.4% faster)

No, you're fine. My tires are 215/50R17. So you're good.

My IS300 rims came with IS300 lugs. The stock steelie lugs aren't made for alloy wheels. They might fit, but they'll look funny.

i'm on 225/50/17 on lexus gs300 rims for my winter set and they fit great.

as for lugs, whitechocolate is right, you need to use the special lugs with the rims. they have a shank and sleeve on them. DO NOT BUY THESE FROM A DEALER!. dealer wants alot, 5 bucks a lug. you can grab them from ebay. i was lucky to get these from the guy who sold me the rims, but if you're not as lucky, go on ebay.

here's a pic to see what i'm talking about (from ebay):

if that's exactly what you mean, then you're going 3.4% slower than what your speedometer reads. if you're going 60 when you hit 62 that's slow.

unless you mean, when your speedometer reads 60 and you'll be going 62 then it's 3.4% faster.

Since it's about 3% it won't matter. But I always try to get tires that will be close to stock so your speedometer can be as accurate as possible.

So a 50 offset on IS300 rims will be correct for the speedometer?

Also, can the Lexus center caps be replaced with Toyota ones? And if so, does any place sell just the center caps?

50 offset or 50 on the tire wall? the rims isn't as important as your tirewall. I go to this website to actually measure.

rims-and-tires.com

try that site out and go to their fitment section, you should be able to compare and it'll give you results with offset info.

The offset does not effect the speedometer. The overall diameter (rim + sidewall) will effect speedometer reading. Keep the diameter as close to stock as possible. Then your speedometer will show your actual speed.
