Check Your Cabin Air Filter Boys!

Here is what my '05 Camry filter looked like after just 10,000 miles. Pleats were full of crud too!

Dirty one is on top...

I think dealer recommends it at 10k miles for city drivers, otherwise its 15k. Yeah, its pretty dirty.

LOL I did that with my Jetta. Pulled it out, slapped it on the ground a bit to knock some of the crap out of it, and stuck it back in.

The 07 owners manual calls for vaccuuming the filter off once a year and replacing every 2 years. Your mileage may vary.

The cabin filter pictured is in like new condition compared to some that I've seen pulled out of cars.

I brought my Grandmother's 2001 Taurus in for service, the removed the cabin filter and showed it to me. You could hardly tell what it was because there was so much crap on it. Apparently it had never been changed.

The one pictured really isn't bad at all. It could easily have been used longer or simply tapped upside down and reinstalled for more use. Of course, there really isn't any such thing as too much maintenance in most cases.

I've seen that many times too. Usually in the engine air filter housing.

My Dad and I just evicted three mice from his car about a week ago. They had nested on top of the intake under the engine cover. There was also some nest material in the engine air filter. They chewed through the transmission wiring harness and ripped up the hood insulation. I still have to fix that for him. Mice can really wreck alot of stuff on a car, that's for sure.

By the way, brake cleaner works great for blinding mice and freaking them out. It makes them easy targets for stomping on them.
