5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Here are some pics I shot today. The car is real dirty, trust me...
I know I should drop it on some TRD's but I am back in NYC now since I graduated from college and I dont know about it considering some of these roads over here. It would look sick on some TRD's though.
Should I get hub-centric rings for these wheels? I was driving on the highway doing about 90-95.... no vibration at all. From what I have heard the function of the hub-centric ring is to take some of the work off the lugs when it comes to keeping the wheel centered. Are the hub-centrics necessary and should they have come with the wheels?

Thanks for the great comments. I think I may be looking into a drop soon. Car looks alot better in person.
As for ride quality, there is a big difference since my old Michelin MXM4 has a softer 45 series side wall and the Toyo Proxes 4 have a 35 series harder sidewall so I take it easy on bumps now. Road noise is about the same and handling is definetely up.
Here is the FOR SALE thread for my previous TRD rims. 18" TRD Rims

You do what's right for you and the car. If the sick look means you damage the car, then it's no longer looking great. So what's the point. But yeah... if you could, a drop would help complete the look!

I'm NOT a wheel expert by any means... still rolling on stock with all my vehicles... but I have to believe the wheels are already hub centric, no? Lug nuts should hold the wheels laterally to the vehicle (just keeping 'em attached, that is), but the design of the wheels' thru-mounting holes and the mounting studs does not provide much real "centering" of the wheels. And even if you could center them, they'd no doubt have enough give while driving that it would get out of balance. And once it started, the eccentricity would snowball. The only way I'd believe they were "lug-centric" is if they were VERY tight to put on, with almost no play in the mounting holes. Even then, that would mean the weight of the vehicle would be loaded on the side of the studs. Just not sure I can see that.
If I'm wrong, someone please educate me, though.

Yeah. I never noticed the slighter lighter grey color until I actually looked at the pic. You dont see it much in person at all but pictures really bring it out. Nex time I will take the pics from a different angle.

I found out these wheels are listed to be lug-centric after doing some research. Most aftermarket wheels today are actually lug-centric. I will still feel more assured having the rings in there. I dont know how much of a impact they can make considering the majority of them are usually plastic or metal.
I will definetely call tomorrow to find out if the wheels should of come with the rings. These wheels came straight from Enkei themselves so I will have to let the dealer know about the ring issue.
