Try shooting in aperture priority or manual mode. Changing the metering to spot or center weighted, and possibly the white balance also may help also.

That and learn to adjust how you shoot according to the light you have. Overcast days are really good because it minimizes harsh light. Evenings are good also. The sun behind the subject will cause a shadow and you'll have to use the flash to light up the subject. If possible shoot with the sun behind you to remove the shadow unless that's the effect you're going for.

Basically, learn the techniques before blame the equipment or drop cash on some better equipment.

Dude, I LOVE the shaved trunk. Can't figure out what so many people have against it. I think shaving my trunk was one of the best things I've done to my car. And those tail light overlays are sick as hell too.

Looks like someone did a bad job installing his front license plate at the dealership where he bought the car from.
