Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Well, with some feedback to some on this forum (THANKS), I made a few clean changes to my new SE. Below are some pics. I removed the body side molding (came with my package) and debadged the back. The tint is 15% in the back and 50% in the front (state limit). I had the venture shield clear bra installed over the entire front end (18" up the hood). I also had some fun painting the brake calipers a subtle blue, and I placed a small decal of my university on the caliper - just for fun. I replaced the stock wheels with 18" TSW Vortex wheels (+40) wrapped with 245/45/18 Yokohama YK520 tires. The ride is smooth and quiet. I lost no comfort, and enhanced handling (at least from my perspective). I like the reveal of the wheels. The rear wheels show aggressively just inside the wheel well, and the larger overall diameter fills the well pretty well. I am still considering TRD springs. I have 2.5"+ in the back and plenty of room in front. Is that enough room?
Next thing, I've had a few cars dropped in my previous ownerships and I agree it does compliment new rubber/rims on any car but for some reason, I don't know why I can't see a Camry dropped. I guess to me dropping a car means it's ready to race where as I see a camry as a luxury sports car (ignore the price tag). Maybe i'm growing through different generations in life where my taste has changed. Even if I do throw some 18's on mine, I still don't think I'm gonna drop it...wheel gap or not, just the streets of NYC DO NOT! shed any love for cars lowered. It's a fact, so maybe I want alittle sporty look with a rim package, but does the wheel gap really matter all that much to everyone? Right now for me...No, I don't mind wheel gap but I do like the idea of slapping on a nice set of spring/summer rims. Just some cents from me...
