Australia How To Remove Cabin AC Filter in Gen 5 Camry?

Hi All,

Trying to work out how to remove the cabin AC filter in my Gen 5 Camry. I got as far as removing the glovebox but when I looked behind, I didn't see anything that I could easily remove to get to the filter. I am certain it must be full of crud right now.

Thanks all

Hi Johnny...tried to remove the ac filter in my Gen 5 but when I removed my glove compartment, everything looked completely different from the ones in the pic. I will get a digital camera and take some pics to show...so now I'm stuck I have no idea what to remove in order to get to the ac cabin filter.

Maybe the Aussie spec Camry is a little different??

The cabin air filter is located behind the glove
box + the glove box must be removed.

• Open the glove box door.

• Remove the Phillips screw on the right side
of the outside of the glove box door.

• Slide out the connecting rod.

• Push in each side of the glove box to release

the tabs.

• Swing the glove box door downward.

• Slide out the cabin air filter housing.

• Remove the old filter and replace with a new
cabin air filter - make sure the filter in
properly seated in the housing.

• Slide the housing back into position.

• Reinstall the glove box.

Hi there cmathieu.

The Aussie Camries don't have the cabin filter, unfortunately. Sorry to disappoint you.

Thanks BigDenis

Not dissapointed at all...one less thing to worry about and it also proves that I wasn't going mad not seeing the filter behind the glove box..hehe...

That said, there is a very stale smell coming from the air vents when I use the airconditioning so I guess I might have some moisture build up in there...will have to get my Toyota dealer to check it out when the car is next serviced.

Cheers,
Charles
